    Spring Beer

Nice! Can’t get easier than that!

    Spring Beer

Thanks! I just checked out that baltic black... looks like a winner! I think we are on to something here

    Spring Beer

I recently discovered them! He helped me quite a bit when I was building my kegerator. I live in the Oakville area so its not far. That was actually the place i was going to call when getting things together!

    Spring Beer

Before this Belgian, I have done quite a few malt forward beers. Would like something more hoppy probably. Maybe a session IPA? I really into black IPAs right now. I'm also interested in the Kolsch/Helles realm, but I do not have temp control for fermentation. My basement stays at perfect temp -...

    Spring Beer

I've done about 7 or so extract kits - all of them Brewer's Best. I currently have a Belgian Golden Ale in the fermenter that will be ready to keg in another 10 days. For my next batch, I want to try to venture off on my own with a recipe, piecing together the ingredients instead of relying on...

    Keg lines/storage

So I have finished my first keg of beer  Now what? I currently have another beer in the fermenter. It probably has about 2 more weeks to go. I have read a bunch of threads on keg storage until the next fill. That seems to vary quite a bit, but the moral of the story is clean and...

    Corney Keg Post

Trust me i tried pliers. I think this used keg had soda in it and they are glued on. Plus i am a scrawny 150lbs. I don't have much ass to put behind those pliers LOL Purchased that wrench last night.

    Amazing thank you!

My First Brew, getting worried about my yeast colony.

I don't get bubbling out of my airlock at all now that i have switched to buckets. i think those bucket lids must leak enough to not force bubbles through the air lock. I use the S type airlock. I have a Belgian Golden on day two of fermentation right now. I have positive pressure in the...

    Corney Keg Post

I'll reply to my own thread here - i think i found it. Just going to buy a 12-point socket set i think

    Another mediocre beer...getting frustrated

It seems most of you guys give your beer quite a bit of time after bottling to condition. Do you do the same with kegging? Have you all found it beneficial to wait a few weeks after kegging as well?

Why does the Krausen look like cauliflower?

My glass carboy broke a couple of brews ago so i switched to some brew buckets. It has been great for my nerves since i cannot see the beer now. Now i just set it and forget it and trust the process.

What size is the 16 point star post on the corny keg? I want to get a wrench to get it off, but the two i have ordered have been to big.
  14. Brews and Blues

    extract taste...every time.

That is an interesting idea. I have been brewing kits for a bit now. I think from here, i am going to start piecing these things together myself to ensure freshness. I have never had an issue with that twang in my beer. I use RO water every time. Maybe I got lucky that I have just gotten fresh...

    Yeast Clean up Time

    Great! Less work the better!

    Temperature control

A common item I see on this forum is temperature control and the improvements it makes on the final product. Things have been confusing me with this item a bit. 1 - we are talking about the temperature of the fermenting wort and not the room temperature correct? 2 - what is more important...

Looking for input on Fermenter Upgrade

Do people have any experiences with the FermZilla? I have been eyeballing that for some time now. I like the idea of not only being able to see the beer, but how easy dumping trub/yeast removal is. I don't think I am ready to add that kind of adjustment to my brew day yet... but I get online at...

    Yeast Clean up Time

Those who cold crash, are you literally moving your primary fermenter (in my case a brew bucket) into a fridge for a few days, yeast and all? Or would it be benificial for me to siphon to a keg, sealing, and then leaving in the fridge for a few days before applying the co2?

Extract Kit Question - Palmer Brewing Method

Will do. I know that is another possibility as the malt extras can be sitting on the shelf for a while, thus effecting the flavors. Thanks for the podcasts as well! I'm not even positive that it has that twang... somehow I am both super critical and super forgiving of the beer I brew. It's...

Extract Kit Question - Palmer Brewing Method

Thanks! I've had great results with these kits actually. Sometimes I wonder if there is a tiny bit of "extract twang" which John Palmer attributes to those Maillard reactions, though. I think I am going to give it a shot. I'm looking at brewing in about a week or so. I will report back!
