    Brewvide?

Hey thanks for the info on the Anvil! I found out we have a few hose hookups near the community grills. Seems like if theres propane to the grills, using propane to make beer there shouldn't be any issue. So I ended up buying a 10 gallon HD cooler turned into mashtun with false bottom and...

    Brewvide?

Okay, I figured this was the case but wasn't sure and don't know anyone personally who uses electric. Good to know that 120 kettles can't do it either I thought about them for a bit for my apartment set up.

    Brewvide?

Is this true for even the higher voltage systems? I feel like a lot of microbreweries I've been too run electric so they don't have to put in a vent for gas. Anyways those curious about the pricing, the kickstarter price will be announced June 1. June 8th special opportunities for super early...

    Brewvide?

I saw the same add awhile back, couldn't figure out what I had clicked on, then just recently came across it again, I signed up to get notifications and things as well. Here is why I am excited about it. I moved into an apartment which doesn't allow propane so I can't use my 8 gallon pot. I got...

    Small batch grain/ hop quantities

If you want to go super simple with the hops just pick one you like and use that. Any mid to high AA hop will work well. I love centennial, it's the only hop in Bells Two Hearted Ale which happens to be one of my favorites. I love it so much I bought a centennial rhizome.

    BIAB pH not decreasing

I just tried it on an iPad and it worked. I have no idea what was going on with my brain when I was working on it earlier on a computer...I guess there's some magic in these homebrews after all haha

    BIAB pH not decreasing

When you input in brewers friend ( I only have free versions of things right now) does it ever change the numbers at the top? I could put in a target pH and then it would spit out how many mLs of lactic, but it wouldn't update the pH at the very bottom of everything. Is that what that program does?

    BIAB pH not decreasing

Well, after resetting my computer and getting all the updates installed, it's now working as I would have expected it too. I don't know if I did something different when I began putting my info into it again or what......time to RDWHAHB and prep my next batch!

    BIAB pH not decreasing

I had to do a bunch of updates to the computer and now I have to reenter everything to bru'n water and brewer's friend. I'll get around to that tomorrow.

    BIAB pH not decreasing

I am driving myself crazy over figuring out what happened/what I need to do to get a lower mash pH when mashing, especially lighter beers. I know the obvious answer is add acid or remove alkalinity. Here is the recipe I made 3 lbs Briess 2-Row (1.8L) 3 lbs Dingeman's Pale ale (3.9L) 10 oz...

    Waterprofile Golden Ale

Just remember to pay attention to mash pH too. Sometimes those lighter beers need some acid added to get to a low enough pH. I just brewed up a beer with 2 row, pale ale, c-40 and some toasted rye. Used a higher mineral profile because the color was going to be around 9srm. Forgot to pay...

Diabetic wife wants to drink fruited sours

Im a nurse and work on a cardiovascular unit. Typically we will check a blood sugar right before a pt eats and give enough insulin to cover that sugar level. How often does your wife check her blood sugar? 4 x a day? Would it be possible for her to add the beer in with the next blood sugar...

Aging Cider in a Rum Barrel

I haven't tried this, but I do Amharic a blackberry cider I plan on aging on brandy barrel chips...its super experimental, and also has some d-45 in it.That won't be ready for a few more weeks unfortunately.

    candi sugar in cider?

I thought beet sugar was a simple sugar and thus 100% fermentable? Did I get confused somewhere? I will absolutely keep this thread updated with my results and how the flavors blend and work out

    candi sugar in cider?

If it wasn't clear the 1.060 hydro reading was taken once the blackberry juice, Apple juice and d-45 was combined and well mixed up. That should account for any water content from the berries correct? I did a test batch of blackberry juice and realized how subtle those flavors really are. I...

    candi sugar in cider?

I know this is an ancient thread, but before doing research I bought some D-45 to use in a blackberry cider. I blended and strained 3lbs of blackberries, mixed that with 2.5 gallons apple juice and 1 lb of the d45, OG was 1.060, added some pectic, yeast nutrient and 1 pack of WLP 720. Its...
