☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Drying phase is a misnomer & more appropriately named yellowing phase. The largest percentage of moisture loss is concentrated at the onset of first crack. Most high density beans are also washed and have a decent moisture content. Since moisture is excellent conductor of heat & a dense bean...

    Mystery Coffee Bean Swap

Thats a really clean natural. Your chaff removal is top notch btw, i didn't see a single flake of it. Part of the reason I suspected washed coffee. Im looking forward to tossing those greens in the roaster this weekend.

    Mystery Coffee Bean Swap

for those of you who haven't traded coffee or beer with @Inkleg, you might not know what a generous person he is. i've traded with him before and i wasn't surprised that he went above & beyond. the package included 2 roasts, 1 dark & one that i'd guess to be City++. to round it all out, there...

    Mystery Coffee Bean Swap

@Kealia - it’s a dry process Papa New Guinea. Kind of an off beat coffee but I enjoy a PNG from time to time due to its generally heavy body & sweetness. This bean hits close to mark but it’s doesnt have as much gravity as the better ones I’ve tried. I get a bit of a hickory/Smokey note along...

Freezing works great to preserve the freshness of your coffee. Deep freezer's are > normal freezers. Vac bags often get a hole poked in them by the sharp edges of the beans otherwise no prob. If you have a mason jar free, those work quite well and allow you to take a serving out here & there...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

@jimyson - I put a very low amount of effort into distribution. I find sometimes the more you fuss over it, the tougher it is to get a good result. Having a high end grinder probably helps a lot here. How are those SSP burrs & SJ treating you? @Inkleg - harbortown makes an excellent point...

where the hell do you think all the asian girls working at massage parlors come from? you're ignorant if you think those girls are jerking off nasty old men like kraft bc it's better than flipping burgers. either you're very naive or in a deep state of denial.

^PREACH!!! I sit back and laugh at some of these folks (I am one as well, guilty as charged) arguing about jumping from a $2,500 espresso grinder to a $3,200 and the perceivable differences in flavor. These chats blow up into 30+ page discussions that go crazy in depth. Never have I seen...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

^pshank those Silvias are classic machines. i wanted one badly when i first got into espresso, especially one with a PID. at the time, a PID was serious business and the kit was intimidating for me to install. look up Andy Schecter - he is an espresso GOD and was the first to hot-rod a Silvia...

my machine is an ECM Synchronika. way more than. the steam boiler is a total waste, i literally only turn it on every other month to kill bacteria & flush out the old water so it stays fresh. shots only, no milk drinks in our house. i really like the PID, line pressure p/i (since it's...

that is a hell of a lot of machine there. a classic beauty for sure, but there are a couple reasons i wouldn't get one: - no e61 screw in the group for thermometer. i know people get a flushing routine down but i don't think i could live like that. - it's an absolute unit. truly built for...
