I’ve heard the same suggestions as listed above work well for roaster cleaning: Simple Green, OxyClean, PBW & Cafiza. Cafiza & hot water has been my go-to. It’s really satisfying to see how spotless parts come out after a good soak. Never ceases to impress me.

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Geisha is w/o question the most impressive/stunning coffee I’ve tasted in my life. My home roasts of it however have fallen short several times. It’s a tough been to roast. Not super dense, long/wide seem. They take heat in an irregular way. If I’ve learned anything, roast them fast & drop...

Those MCR 500g roasters have gone up a LOT in price but they’ve been refined quite a bit along the way too. At their new price I’d be a lot more tempted to buy American and get a USRC 1lb roaster. I’m curious though, it sounded like they are making way for a new model. I wonder what kind of...

Glad to hear more comments on that coffee. I switched to the recent 90+ point Ethiopian from Sweet Maria’s and was easily a step down in the cup, even after 3 roasts of it. I was let down by the lack of blueberries and focused on that rather than how absolutely clean & sweet the Banko is. I...

that is a really neat feature that you can load someone’s else’s profile into your bullet. If you bought the same coffee theoretically it should the taste same. The Ikawa does the same & I hear extremely repeatable. Too bad theyre so expensive for such a small capacity

Happy to see some of y’all messing with Yemen’s. Crazy bc I’ve had a little slice vac-sealed in the fridge that I just busted out to mix up into a (hopefully) fun espresso blend. It’s such a unique coffee. Although I’m a sucker for the highly rated/priced stuff it seems like the home grown...

I was dead set on a Monolith Max since it’s inception. When I first got “serious” into coffee the 68mm conical burr set was king. I’ve benched my Monolith Flat against the Compak K10 PB & Monolith Conical & found the Flat ultimately superior for my tastes (espresso & filter). Although I’d...

Two new Kenyan offerings at Roastmasters today. One AA & one AB. I think I’m gonna order a couple pounds of each. I love how AB’s roast but that descriptor “tart” hooked me on the AA. I LOVE super acidic Kenyans - lots of room for roast development & let’s be honest, hella punchy on the...

I wanted to share a couple quick thoughts on the recent (2019) Banko a lot of us grabbed from the Crown Jewel. 1.) I am not getting hardly any berries from this coffee. After multiple roast attempts, letting it age for 2 weeks, several brew methods/parameters no a drop of Blueberry to be...

interesting Guat posted at Roastermasters. Red Bourbon varietal. Not sure I've ever seen them recommend "keeping the roast to City+, avoid approaching 2nd crack". Not sure if this is good or bad - perhaps the acidity is simply nonexistent? Guatemala El Socorro y Anexos Red Bourbon

Anyone see the 92pt Ethiopian that just showed up @ Sweet Marias? 2pt cuppers correction so it's a true 90pt coffee. My golden rule at SM's is that if a coffee has a score of 9 or greater in BOTH Flavor & Sweetness I buy it so picked up 10lbs of it. Fingers crossed it lives up to the hype...

@applescrap great post putting all those pics together. My wife & I only drink a 12oz mug each in the morning so an automatic brewer doesn’t fit our lifestyle. I’ve always wanted a Moccamaster though. The oscillating brew head & late Mid-Century Modern design really grab me. Someday I may...
