    Upside Down Keggles?

A very impressive set of sawhorses and 1x2s...so impressive I'm not even going to post it so you don't get jealous. I'm looking for alternatives as well :)

    Upside Down Keggles?

I used 2" 90 degree elbows for my bottom drains, I like having the little extra space for the pump to pull from while recirculating the mash...and the tri clamps definitely help with cleaning

Auber 2352; temp setpoint not observed in manual mode?

I don't have a thread yet, maybe before too long, but here is a pic to help. I use one side/leg of a DPDT contactor and a regular house switch to activate the contactor coil. You can see the hot(red) and neutral (white) on the right coming "in", and the"output" red wire on the left of the...

Auber 2352; temp setpoint not observed in manual mode?

I get what you are trying to do/say, a simple illustration would be maintaining 150F using a 240v 6000w element (which would need to be fired a pid determined 20% for example) or running the same element at 120v, which would be 1/4 the output at 1500w, and would need to be fired by a pid...

DIY Electric Brew Kettle Help Needed

This is exactly what I use to kill power to my element outlet...works great to stop boil overs very quickly as well, and for switching plugs (I only have one 220v outlet that's controlled right now).

Screwed up hole for my element

I used this solder on TC flange for my build (I think it was option 3, 3b is that 2" flange). It was easy, for the 1.5" flange, the hole could be up to 1 5/8" wide, I would guess your hole would be within the tolerance for the 2"version...

Has any one ever used this new pump?

Yea, I use a female camlock disconnect screwed on the inlet portion of my pump so I can connect directly to the bottom drain valve on my kettle, then I use a male camlock from my valves and can close the valve and move the pump to whatever vessel I need to transfer from...makes it very portable...

Has any one ever used this new pump?

Yea, not trying to argue at all, but honestly from what I've read throttling the output via valve, using variable voltage power supplies, or a PWM device all are acceptable for DC pumps...I'm not an expert though as to what may be best for the life of the pump. BUT.... With the LED dimmer I...

Has any one ever used this new pump?

I'm no expert on pumps, but from my experience limiting the output on my little pump seems to put a lot of strain on it, not that it purrs as nice/quietly running it at 50% vs 100% using the dimmer, but $3 for the dimmer that also has the ability to turn it off quickly was worth it in my opinion.

Has any one ever used this new pump?

I don't see why it wouldn't work, and it's nice already having the plugs/connectors on it...this is the one I use for my pumps: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171104731465 I plan to disassemble it and use the guts mounted in my control panel...

Has any one ever used this new pump?

I have two of these little pumps, and my first few experiences have been very positive as well. I've used them to recirc at the end of mashing, keep liquid temps from stratifying during electric heating (both wort and water), recirculating during chilling, and transferring liquids from mlt to...

How to start the switch to electric brewing

Check the sticky... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=145019 Honestly, I learned a lot from this site and the internet. Ask questions. There is a lot of info out there...read the "pj electrical diagrams" thread. The schematics help to understand. Hopefully that helps...

    RIMS or HERMS?

I'll state that I haven't used either...but after seeing that thread about how nasty some rims elements got when not fully disassembling them and cleaning them after each use, I decided there is no way I want to have any type of system where I can't see or disassemble and clean every part...so I...

    240v to 120v switch

That's a great point, Bobby. I have a DPST 240v switch from lowes controlling power to the element as a "master" shut off. Otherwise I would be looking closer at this solution. This is the switch...

    240v to 120v switch

Just for completeness if anyone else looks at this thread, Bobby used a Bryant 3025 dpdt switch in his setup, costs around $35-40 as I can see. I can't link but the thread is titled "On-Demand Sparge via RIMS"
