    Hello from South Central PA

I had a bit of a bump in my brewing schedule when I fried the main front burner on the kitchen stove last week. So I've been brewing a bunch of old LME & HME kits & extra malts. I did order parts to repair the stove, but it's obvious the stove has issues with 8 gallon boils. Seems like a...

My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

Did you have any problem with scorching? I have a HP 100,000 BTU burner for the Kettle. I haven't tried it yet, the base for the Burner doesn't seem to be Keggle friendly. I'll make a larger "platform" for the keggle when I build a brew stand and I'm also thinking about putting a round 1/4"...

    Second Runnings

I used to sparge with a extra gallon or two, using some to top up to the desired boil volume then boil the extra to make future starters. I intended to do the same thing on the Pale Ale I brewed the other day, but it smelled like boiled wood, tannins I guess. To do the parti-gyle should I...

My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

I have a 50' x 3/8" stainless chiller now and having some copper tubing is tempting for a build, but I think the plate chiller will be the way to go. Of course the I'll need a pump, hoses and connectors, $$$$

My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

That is a kicking starter! Is that in a 1 gallon jug? That chiller is also impressive! I am also preparing to make the jump to 10 gallon batches. I have two kegs to play with, one for boil and one for Hot Water Tank. I have a 10 gallon Igloo Tun that should be fine for the average brew. I...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Sugar will kill any "soft" flavor of the strawberries AND the ale. As brew_ny said, use LME or DME, OR Brew a small batch of 1.060, (2 gallon) and blend it. I did a Irish Stout a few years ago that was like syrup, I turned it into a Black & Tan by brewing a weak batch of lager and blending it...

Keg polishing question regarding polishing disc

Wow! Very Nice! It looks like your using electric for heat, how do you like it? Do you prefer the cam lock connectors over quick connects? Cheers, Pete

Keg polishing question regarding polishing disc

I am in process of polishing a couple keggles. I used a 3M stripping pad with light pressure to remove old labels, paint and scuff marks. Then I used the Gator 4.5 Fine disc with VERY light pressure. I have a 3M headlight polishing kit complete with various grades of sanding pads (500 - 3000...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I am prepping for a medium bodied lager with Mexican Lager yeast. This time of the year my garage maintains temps in the mid to low 40's. I have a Grolsch clone fermenting out there now. I will try to brew 4 or 5 more Lagers over the next week or so.

    Hello from South Central PA

Hello fellow brewers! I have been brewing for several years. I started with a Mr. Beer kit and a few Mead kits. Several years later I have been brewing 5 gallon All Grain batches. I am now in process of building a dedicated brew stand with keggles. I have been fairly busy this year...
