    Brooklyn Winter

Just had a few bottles of this stuff. One of the best winter brews out there imo. A few years back I had some Pete's wicked winter brew ( which was my favorite winter brew at the time ) but haven't been able to find it the past few years so this is my new fav. Wondering if anyone was working...

    The Mad Elf Holiday Ale

Just got my hands on a six of this bad boy. 2 down and I'm crooked. Definitely packs a punch, thought very subtle. Sort of like a jab that feels like an uppercut. I want to brew this but is the 5lbs of cherries for a 5gal batch or 10 ? seems like alot of cherries for a 5 gal batch and can a...

Munich Helles Dead Guy Clone (Extract & AG- see note)

I'm about to make my second batch of this. It came out amazing ! I used Safale-05 and my LHBS didnt have any saaz so I had some Willamette left over and used that (1/2 oz instead of the 1/4 at 5 min) just threw whatever I had left in there. I also added another LB of LDME so my final abv was...

    Hops Blowout- $.85/ounce

Whats typical shipping to east coast ? New Jersey area to be more specific. Prices are good but with shipping added I might have to order a bunch to get ahead of the game, plus my hop plants are starting to climb :D so don't want to order too much...

    Steeping ratio/volume Q.

Does it make a difference in how much water you steep your grains for extract brewing. Anotherwords, if I'm doing a full boil (6gal) can I steep the grains in the 6 gal or does it have to be in 2-3 gal as I always read and topped off. What are the effects if any between the 2 ?

    Witbier Grand Cru (EX)

Almost ready for secondary, do you put any orange peels in secondary? Or this will make it too fruity?

    Troegs Nugget Nectar Clone

I love Hopback, NN is definitely one of my favorite beers but I saw Flying Mouflan at the local liquor store and had to give it a shot. Troegs website describes it as : “We classify this beer as pushing Nugget Nectar off the side of a cliff,” said John Trogner. “It is bold and...

    Witbier Grand Cru (EX)

I'll prob just get the lb of honey just to stay true to the Grand Cru style. Question about the orange peel and coriander - I was going to just dry out some orange peel from a few oranges I have sitting around, I dont have a scale. How much would comprise 1oz ( 1-2 oranges ?) after its dried...

    Witbier Grand Cru (EX)

I was looking for a grand cru style belgian to make and I have most of these ingredients, except I have 2 cans of Liquid Malt Extract ( 6.6lbs ) instead of dry. I do have 1lb of light DME sitting around and I only have 1 lb of honey. Was wondering how it would affect the taste if I used 1 lb of...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

Not sure about the sugar but I only got down to 1016 so possibly but I'm no expert. Also, my handy Hop Lovers Guide says : Centennial AA - 8-11.5% ( Alpha Acid ) Typical beer style - All Ale Styles, has been used with wheat beer. Possible substitutes - Cascade, Columbus or blend of the two...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

So I went with the extract version and my OG was off a bit 1.068, still bubbling on day 6. Wondering if more DME would have raised the OG ? I had 9 lbs only used 8 - 4 for the boil 4 at flame out ( looking back I dont know why I just didnt use the 1lb that was left over... Dont care so much for...

    How bad is this ?

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I actually just picked up another fermenting bucket in anticipation of the brew going going gone issue. Thanks for the advice guys.

    cooling wort question

I guess my best bet is to invest in a chiller or maybe get a 5 gallon pot that can fit in my sink since the boils are only 2.5 to 3 gallons anyway. The 8 gallon almost seems like a waste. The bottle idea seems like a good one if you can get the labels off without any glue being left behind...

    cooling wort question

So my pot ( 8 gallon ) is too big for my sink, I have a double sink. Is it ok to pour hot wort into cold water in fermenter ? I have an ale pail that just fits in the sink. Will this have any negative effect on the beer ?

    How bad is this ?

Starting OG was 1.060 and it was 1.010 the last 3 days, not necessarily a sign it's done fermenting ? The kit actually said ferment 7-10 days

    How bad is this ?

So my first batch ... after 10 days in primary the gravity was unchanged for the last 3 days at 1.010 and I was getting impatient so I bottled. How bad is it that I sucked on the siphon to get it started ? I guess only time will tell but I read "after the fact" that you should not do this as it...
