New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

A floating dip tube is your best friend for these beers.

A real strong vegetal smell and zero tropical fruit aroma. I had a small amount of 2019 Galaxy left and I compared the two and it was night and day. The 19 batch was pure passionfruit.

That's a good idea. One way of chipping away at the stock. This Galaxy is just so bad, seems pointless using it. I got 16oz of it from Yakima at the time, I complained how bad it was and they sent me another 16oz of it that was just slightly better but still not was Galaxy used to be.

Good to know, thanks. I'll add them to my order. Still hesitant with Galaxy as I must have about 25oz of the 2020 crop in my freezer that's junk. Can't bring myself to use it.

Looking at doing a Yakima Valley order over the next few days and wondering is there anymore updates on their 2022 Nelson? Remember a few pages back some saying it wasn't great. They still have 2021 in stock so wondering should I just stick to that. Also is their 22 Galaxy bad? Any new...

I'm pretty much at 14-16oz dry hop for my DIPAs. Think this is my sweet spot. I did try the 8g/L from the Shellhammer paper but just didn't make any impact whatsoever. Will be dry hopping a TIPA this weekend and wondering should how far I should push the dry hop rate. It's sitting at 10.3% at...

IF it's good enough for JOhn, it's good enough for me. Thanks for posting those videos.

Hope so. I pretty much went with your schedule on your TIPA thread but scaled the rate to around 14oz dry hop. Out of curiosity, is your brewing schedule different for a TIPA compared to as DIPA? As in would you still dry hop and keg in the same time scale or do you leave the beer sit in the...

Pity this didn't come about before I brewed my TIPA yesterday. I kept back most of my Riwaka for the dry hop. Planning to go with 6oz Riwaka and 4oz each of Nelson and Citra. Citra will be a combination for Lupomax and T90. Never used Riwaka before so unsure what's the best use of it.

Going to brew a TIPA strength version on Sunday and want to try the Hochkurz mash again to increase fermentability so the beer doesn't peace out on me in the 30's again like it did the last time I tried a TIPA. I'm kinda struggling with getting the right schedule with step mashing so what would...

Yes, totally agree with that. Have some 21 left, as soon as that's gone I'll be putting an order in for 22 batch.

I liked their 2019 Galaxy but their 2020 was utter garbage. Gave up on Galaxy after that. Would love to brew the original Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy recipe from this thread but not confident I can get good Galaxy anymore.

I've faced this problem a few times now and have just put the hops in a stainless hop spider, turn the gas on and open the PRV so I can open the lid. Drop the hops in, seal back up and purge a few times. Think once you have gas on the whole time you should be ok. I've left the hops in kegs for a...

I got a couple of Equilibrium about 2 weeks ago that were canned in May and to be honest I didn't notice a drop off and was looking for it. Still very distinctively Equilibrium.

Missed the 10% part. My bad.

That's a lot of acid alight. I'm roughly at 8-10ml of 75% phosphoric acid on a 6g batch into the fermenter.

Thanks for posting that graph, its really interesting. Maybe I'm just doing the wrong temps and for maybe too long. Probably need to shorten B amylase rest time and maybe increase the temp a degree or two and increase the A amylase temp and go a bit longer. Also scrap the 156 degree rest as...

I've done a step mash on my last two brews with mixed results. The steps are 147 for 40 minutes 156 for 40 minutes 162 for 20 minutes 167 Mash out. First brew was on a DIPA and it worked out great. Finally broke the 1.020 point with Verdant/LA3 that I never could. This finished at 1.018 and is...

Incognito goes for €12/$12 for 15ml in Europe so $15 for 20ml isn't too bad a price. Used it a few times and it really helps with losses.
