New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Highest I've had is 45g/L by some Slovenian brewery. It was ok but nothing standoutish. I'm sure certain brewery's can get a lot more out of X amount of hops than others with their processes.

Thanks. I'm not great with imperial conversions.

Their beers certainly pack a hop punch and are top tier for this style. What is 5lb/bbl in oz for 5 gallons for example? With your hand selected hops you probably can get away with dialing back the hop amounts. The best I can get is ordering from Yakima Valley. The hops in my LHBS are pretty bad...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Interesting Interview with Paul from Cloudwater in the UK about designing and brewing a DIPA. Their dry hop rates are interesting at around 24g per liter which works out about 16oz for 5 gallons. I've really experimented with different rates over the years and always felt the 8-10oz dry hop just...

That sucks to hear. Always seems to happen when the numbers guys come in. The Veil have been terrible too since expansion and have stopped buying them now.

I'd say cold chain is the main issues especially with coming to Europe.

Really? That's so disappointing to hear, Equilibrium are one of my favorite brewery's. I haven't been able to get anything from the over the last few months as nothing as seemed to make it over to Europe. Is this down to expansion issue? I really hate when I order some Other Half stuff for...

Yeah it's 10-12oz for dry hops on my typical DIPA. My hot side amounts would be around the same as you.

It's 81% attenuation which is high for this strain. So much for having a lower ABV beer for the summer, still ending up being 7.2%. Going with 6oz Nectaron/ 4oz Nelson and 1oz Mosaic Lupomax . Did 2oz Nectaron/ 1oz Nelson and 1oz Mosaic in the fermentation dry hop so 15oz in total. I've found...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My current brew has finished a bit lower than I wanted with Verdant yeast. Ended up at 1.012. Was aiming for 15/16 finish so hoping it's not going to be too thin. I did a small dry hop during fermentation again which I reckon I got some hop creep with so will need to account for that next time...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Brewing this weekend with Nectaron again and basing it another @HopsAreGood recipe. It's the one with Mosaic and Idaho 7 hot side and Nectaron and Nelson cold side. Scaling it back this time to around 6.5% but with a hopping rate of a DIPA. Also thinking about using a small bit of Mosaic in...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've gone through pretty much everyway to hop over the last few years and settled on the post fermentation and soft crash approach as my go to for a long time, until my last brew. It was a Citra DIPA that I posted a few pages back, except on this one I did a small charge (1oz lupomax and 1oz...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

This is my latest attempt and I'm super proud of this one. Hands down my best effort so far. It's a Citra Oat Cream DIPA. Around 4 weeks in the keg now and it's come together so good now. After 2 weeks it wasn't where I wanted it to be so added 1oz Citra T90 and 1 oz Citra Lupomax. Not sure if...

Looks amazing, Citra and Nelson is my all time favorite combination. Have to do it again soon.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I did it your way for a few brews and had the exact same concerns so I switched to opening the purged keg, dump the hops in and purge some more like the process Hops are Good set out. The smell while the keg was purging with the hops sitting in it was incredible so reckon that aroma wasn't going...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Just kegged my beer using the Verdant yeast over the weekend. Was really impressed with how it performed. Got from 1.079 to 1.017 so 77.2% attenuation. I top cropped some yeast to use in my next brew. I know the ease of just pitching dry yeast is great but these English strains just seem to get...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

That's an option alright but I'm not really a fan of single hopped beers. Find them too one dimensional. I'm doing a Citra one at the moment but using T-90, Lupomax, Incognito and Spectrum so hopefully will have different layers of flavor.

Cool, thanks. So more Nectaron then. I just got some 21 Nelson from Yakima but haven't used it yet but the 20 batch was amazing.
