I buy 1lb increments, in freezer vacuum sealed. Cut them open to use, then reseal. I don't generally have a problem. Hops Direct is where I go. I'm unwilling to pay $$ for the popular hops, so I use the less popular ones.
You water your hops? Mine get totally ignored. They fend for themselves.
I suppose I watered them when I first planted, but they're on they're own now.
This is my go-to saison. I've brewed it probably 10x. Recently brewed this spring with WLP670 - sacc and Brett. It is sitting in a keg at cellar temp. The mixed yeast strain is awesome. Character it's developing over time is superb.
Jesus. I have a small chest freezer in addition to the keezer; no way I'm buying more food. I could live for 3-4 weeks on what I have now. What do you possibly fill 4 freezers with??
You can mimic the flavor of MO in a beer by adding some specialty malts to basic 2row. I seem to remember using Vienna and Biscuit to do this, but it's been a while. Now I just buy MO.
I feel like that's just the cost of doing business with hoppy beers. Are there ways of mitigating this that I don't know, aside from mesh bag / hop spider? I think you're losing that wort either way as soon as you hydrate those hops.
