Is this a reasonable PG Pliny clone?

To start, I am a noob. I also want to try this beer that is supposed to be great for hop-heads. That aside, I put "Dude's" Pliny clone into BeerSmith (which I am really new at using) and converted it from AG to PG. I only have a mini-cooler that can do about 1.5gallons of water in it to do my...

    First brew tasted... success?

LOL, yeah. I have a Fat Tire clone going right now, going to bottle it in a week or two. It's been going since last Thursday and is most definitely done with fermentation, but I've been advised to keep it on the yeast. I'm trying for the "pipeline," gotta get something else brewing NOW!

    First brew tasted... success?

Cool, I will try that out with at least half of my bottles. Then I will taste the differences, if there are any, in a few weeks. :mug:

    First brew tasted... success?

I boiled it, cooled it, and put it in the bottom of the bottling bucket before siphon. So you think it would benefit to swish the bottles around a bit and let them settle back out over the next weeks?

    First brew tasted... success?

A friend and I have just cracked open two of my first brews, Oktoberfests. Tasted them, and wouldn't ya know... they tasted pretty good! I had it in primary for about 10 days, and bottled for 10 days (impatience on both steps), but the FG was done when bottled. These taste maybe a little sweeter...

    Ye Olde Yeast Starters

I think maybe you should agitate the stout before the re-pitching option. I'm a noob at brewing, but I think after 3 days it just might need more time OR a little warmer temp (maybe?)

    Cleaning Tubing/Carboy

I only put mine in bleach water, although your star san should work better. Do not run any type of abrasive through as it can create scratches for bacteria to hide. The carboy can handle mild abrasion, watch it on a better bottle though, I believe they can scratch. For the tubes: So put some of...

Can I add volume in secondary?

Wow, this helps a lot. I think my problem so far is that I am too anxious to get to drinking it. Probably best to let it mellow out, as you all have said. A little off topic, but I believe this beer is nearly done fermenting (no, I haven't done my hydrometer readings). What effects will...

    Mocktoberfests

The only thing I know after two brews is that you can use the "California Lager" style yeast to achieve something similar to a lager at ale temperatures. It is what I used for an Oktoberfest anyway. I'll let you know if it came out right in 2 days :mug:

Can I add volume in secondary?

This is only my 2nd brew, I was interested in trying the 1-2-3 approach since the instructions I have say "beer is best after 3 weeks in the bottle."

Can I add volume in secondary?

I am brewing AHS Fat Tire clone and am at 5 days since pitching. I had the volume pretty much to my stopper (5G better bottle) after pitching a 1L starter. The fermentation went nuts in about 12 hours after pitch, and after subsiding has left me with about 4.2 gallons (the rest was expelled into...

    Newbie Learns a Lesson

Maybe a little off topic, but here it goes. I've found the easiest bottles to do anything with are Michelob. The labels come off with just soaking and the minimal amount of glue on the bottles comes off super easy. As far as capping them, they are also very well mannered. The only problem is...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Beat me to the Sunset Wheat, but I do enjoy a Dead Guy.

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Go Grape. Either way they are terrible. If I'm looking in that price range I'm going for the OE800 (which I do like for nostalgia purposes). My worst beer I have ever tasted was from the house beer from Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West, took one swig and asked for a replacement of ANYTHING...

    Greetings from Orlando, FL

Thanks Craig, I was hoping they had most of what I needed. I will have to check out what is in Daytona the next time I am out that way. I haven't joined the local club yet, but have met some members at Orlando Brewing a time or two.

    Greetings from Orlando, FL

I've heard they can be difficult to deal with, personality wise. I haven't had that problem so far though. The guy I dealt with was actually pretty nice and helpful. Aside from their personalities, what is the problem with them? Low selection? Always open for a good alternative.

    Greetings from Orlando, FL

Hey all, first time brewer here! Looks like I have found the wealth of knowledge I will need in the coming years to step my brewing game up. Just one brew going right now, an Oktoberfest from my local store's recipe. Look for my noob questions everywhere on this board! :mug...
