    Well it would be sealed. Plus I was going to boil the water first before I added anything to it. To kill any bacteria.

    Kinda see I was wanting to try steeping the grains like sun tea . I thought It would give it different. Characteristics to the flavor . Am i right since it would take a few days to steep . I was going to try it this weekend. Cause here in NJ its going to be like 90 all weekend

    Well I was even thinking of using a black barrel that would attract heat . I was going to just add some water with a thermometer inside to see the temperature over a really hot weekend . Just to see how hot it gets first

    Can you do it this way? And if I did should I pre boil the water so it kills any bacteria? Cause I was thinking if trying this and when it came to the hops I would just dry hop any ideas or feed back would be cool on this one

    oh I've let it go now for 8 days I think I used to high of a hop I used 1oz us magnum alpha 13.1% plus 1oz UK pilgrim 10.5% in a 5 gallon batch . I'll let it sit for now or should I just count it as a loss?

    My yeast us-05 says it is a medium gravity what does that mean exactly? I know high gravity but how to tell what is medium im confused and im probably just thinking into it to much and it could be something simple anything would be great guys !

    hydrometer reading????

    Ok my O.G. Was 1.057 im on day 7 and its now at 1.028-1.029 . My question is should I let it keep going? Cause I didn't use a yeast starter nor did I aright . There is still a lair of bobbles till I get to beer is it still fermenting? Slowly?

    I've got both but not sure witch to use to bottle I know I need 1 1/4 cups of dme but is there any advantage or disadvantages to using either one? Thanks to any feed back and happy brewing!

    a respectable time to rack a stout?

    The yeast I used was SAFALE US-05 dry ale yeast that's what the guy at the shop recommend
