Inkbird itc-308? $35 gets you wired, 2 stage temp controller.

The Inkbird probe fits perfectly in the thermowell from Brewer's Hardware I mentioned before, not too tight, but not so loosely that it could be accidentally yanked out, although that's always a possibility depending on how much force is exerted... I've attached some photos of how the thermowell...

BIAB recirc setup - How to connect and remove the false bottom?

Here's a pizza disc + 4" stainless carriage bolts for legs. I use a 135º stainless side pickup tube (not installed in the photo) to allow for whirlpooling. Just pull the bag and false bottom and stir away.

Inkbird itc-308? $35 gets you wired, 2 stage temp controller.

I have this thermowell: https://www.brewershardware.com/12-Stainless-Steel-Thermowell-TWS12.html The Inkbird probe fits perfectly, and the end is welded and polished, not crimped. You might think of using a double-drilled rubber stopper and getting the longer version of this one, if needed. Much...

First BIAB: beer out of the primary tastes bitter/sour/astringent

In regard to pH meters, don't worry about spending a lot of money on one if you're just starting out. I have a super cheap meter that works well, and I've read more than a few accounts that the cheap meters are preferred for our needs over the more expensive (and more sensitive) meters. Just...

    Kind of a false bottom

I had one of these, but the minute I tried to adjust it slightly by bending it, all the little welds started popping apart, leaving those little wires sticking out. Those would shred a bag in a heartbeat. And they're not stainless, either. Here's what I'm using now—an aluminum pizza disk with...

Inkbird itc-308? $35 gets you wired, 2 stage temp controller.

My ITC-308 is all set up for a test run, but I'm curious if the probe is waterproof all the way to where the metal is clamped onto the (seemingly) rubberized cable? That is, can the probe and cable together be submerged? With my cheapo Taylor probe thermometer, I've used a length of heat...

Inkbird itc-308? $35 gets you wired, 2 stage temp controller.

Just ordered mine to be used to control a wine fridge for fermentation. My experience with temperature controllers is limited to an analog Johnson Controls unit, so this will be new for me. I've skimmed thru this thread to see if anyone has details on programming, but haven't seen much other...

    Water considerations for BIAB first-timer?

I'll be doing a middle-of-the road IPA as my first BIAB batch. Trying to decide if I should start with RO or DI water and build it from there, or use my tap water and adjust. Our most recent water report is over here...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Behold the BODINENSTEIN! Jethro Bodine was into homebrewing and needed a cheap gravity-fed BIAB stand, so this is what he came up with. After moving to Beverly Hills, he realized he needed an all-copper counterflow wort chiller, so he got Uncle Jed to buy him a $200 Chillzilla and mounted it...

Last HomeBrewTalk Swag Giveaway for the Summer - Open to All!

Johnny Cash once told me, "I'm sorry you can't get in." But I proved him wrong, and now I'm in here, too. What that has to do with homebrewing, I have no idea.

Glass Big Mouth Bubbler, a no nonsense review

These guys are made in either Korea or China as fermenters for fruit liquor, kimchi and whatnot, so the manufacturer has no insight into the western homebrewing market. That explains why the hole in the lid doesn't seem to fit anything "standard" for us homebrewers like an autosiphon, wine...
