Brewing Solo vs. Brewing with a partner(s)

I typically brew alone, but sometimes I will invite friends over to see the process and help. Plus, two of my friends who I invited are now brewing, which is an added bonus as I get to drink their beer.

    Home Brewing = Saving Money?

Initially I went into it thinking about saving money, but I don't feel that way anymore. I brew beer because I enjoy my creations. Plus, it's a nice bonus when your friends keep coming back for more.

    Android BrewAide-Brew Day Assistant- Free

I appreciate the integration of the recipe into the brew timer. In addition, I like the ability to view the recipe for shopping purposes. Finally, I really appreciate the constant updates and the hard work put into this app. Although I don't see myself using the default recipe file from...

    Android BrewAide-Brew Day Assistant- Free

Thanks for all the hard work in developing your app. The brew timers itself are worth installing the app. I just installed the most recent update. However, I tried to donate, but I received an error.

    What should I brew?

    Double Red Recipe?

I have a friend from Oregon who loves this beer, so I thought I would try and make it. I've never had it before, but was wondering if this recipe is close: http://hopville.com/recipe/1299845/home-brew/ninkasi-irish-red-clone

    Tap-a draft

I like it. There is a guy on ebay who sells a converter so you can attach it to a regulator and paintball tank, which is what I do. In addition, others on the forum have created their own modifications. Although a full corny setup is ideal, the TAD is portable, I don't need a second fridge, and...

    Extract twang

When I first started brewing, I thought there was an extract "twang" but found out it was my process. For me it was controlling the fermentation temperature and improved sanitation procedures that greatly improved my beer.

    BIAB with small pot

Yes, it's fine. You could pull the grains out and soak the grains in the top up water at 170° F. Then squeeze the bag and add the water to your main pot.

Is it ok to collect yeast from dry yeast packets?

If you pitch it within a week, you may not even need a starter. However, I would check with Mr. Malty's Yeast calculator.

Higher than expected FG - is mash temp to blame?

Did you check the accuracy of your thermometer and hydrometer?

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I did a little experiment to see how fast I could brew this using the BIAB method. I did a 40 minute mash and a 40 minute boil, and from start to finish it took about 2.5 hours. I kegged it last week and it tasted similar to my previous efforts. If it turns out, this will be a quick session beer...
