    There is a total weight stamped on the collar of the valve sometime on old steel cylinders. There is a flat spot at the base of the valve by the collar and the is a stamped total weight of liquid and cylinder.

    Yes there is a tare weight or total weight stamped on the collar of the cylinder somewhere usually opposite the DOT-3AA He should not just guess at the total weight b/c if that happened to be a 15lb cylinder you will blow off the safety.     Why is this one more active then my first batch? I don't think I filled the first one up with as much water but still the airlock was active but not like this. I did also let the yeast activate for about 3 hours before pitching it, could that be the reason?

    It is most likely a 20 or 35 pound cylinder being that it was 20+ years old the welding shop should have sent it out for hydrostatic testing that needs to be done every 5 years.

    New brewer here only on my second batch. I am about 12 hours into my brew and the brew keeps foaming up into the airlock and over flowing. Is this going to ruin my batch and what should I do to fix this problem? Thanks Cheers

    reason for bitter after taste?

    Did you happen to over heat the grains usually I heat the water to 150 then take it off the heat to make sure not to burn the grains so to speak?

    Concealed Carry

    Carry the Glock 27 .40cal love it! Even though CT is not a concealed carry state, the grey areas are so, that I would highly recommend it.

    Where to buy CO2 in SW CT?

    The Stuart White Co Fire Protection in Milford CT has a bulk CO2 recharging facility. They also hydro test CO2 cylinders. Most of the time they will refill your tank on the spot there is a wait if it is out of the 5 year hydro test date. Prices are very good.
