    Williams Brewing Watermelon Ale

I was wondering if anyone has tried this kit from Williams Brewing? I currently have it wrapping up and will be bottling this weekend and was wondering if I should be adding the whole 4 oz. of watermelon flavoring...or if that would be overkill. I was looking for nice easy drinking summer brew...

    IPA secondary questions

Kind of along these same lines, I've got a DIPA that I had in the primary for 2 weeks, and the secondary for one week before I added the dry hops (last Saturday) I was going to DH it for a week and then bottle, but the secondary is now extremely opaque/cloudy since adding the hops (1 oz pellets...

Looking for an IPA recipe with some "dank"

I'm still very new to the homebrew scene, but I've been working a 'dank' IIPA recently and here is what I ended up making 2 weeks ago. Just transferred from primary to secondary last night it is coming along nicely. I've only done 4 previous batches, and they were okay, but this one is a home...

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

Gave this a go over the weekend and it worked out well except for thing. Dunking 14 lbs of wet grains into my 3.5 gallon sparge dunk kettle full of 2.6 gallons of water caused a lot of water displacement and I ended up with maybe 1 to 1.5 gallons of dunk water to add back in. Still, I came close...

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

That makes sense. Say I start with 5 gallons for mashing and 2.65 for sparge. I will lose 1.4 gallons from the 5 to leave me with 3.6...then add the 2.65 for 6.25. Actually, will probably be a little under that with some additional absorption of the sparge water. Say 6 gallons to boil for 90...

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

Thanks wrench. I've never tried to boil that much volume in my kettle, but at least it will be with a turkey fryer and not on the stove top.

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

So, I'm getting ready to try the AG BIAB method soon, and I'm trying figure out my water volume needed, but my head is starting to spin and just need some clarification. I only have a 32 qt (8 gal) kettle, and I'm wanting to brew a IIPA that calls for ~13-14 lbs of grains, so I don't think I'll...

    Thoughts on imperial IPA

I'm looking to do something very similar to this recipe. How big of batch was this for?

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

Thanks TANSTAAFB! And so right on the obsession. I'll wake up some mornings and immediately start thinking of what I want to try and brew next, or what equipment I want to upgrade, etc. The wife is starting to look at me funny....

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

This write up has been a great resource for me. Thanks DeathBrewer for all of the info. I've got a stupid question though that has been wearing on me though. I've read both your Partial Mash and AG stove top methods. Is the only basic difference that the PM method uses DME and fewer grains...

Advice on upcoming batch inspired by Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi IIPA

Thanks, I would say it does have a dry finish to it....but regarding the amount of unfermentables, does the mash temp help determine that? I'm still a little fuzzy on that part of the process. I kind of skipped the training wheel part of home brewing and went straight to the dirt bike part...

Advice on upcoming batch inspired by Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi IIPA

1.) I've been under the assumption that most partial mash recipe's require a DME addition. I'm not doing All Grain yet. 2.) Thanks for the late addition advice, I'll see how that tweaks it. Mashing at 152.

Advice on upcoming batch inspired by Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi IIPA

Hi all, First post here, so be gentle... I'm still very noob to the home brew hobby, but have kind of dove in with both feet. I've only got 4 batches under my wings so far, two Imperial Russian Stouts, an oatmeal stout and a Stone inspired IPA. All partial mash brews. Usually I'm not a big...
