What yeast did you use again Chad? **edit** Nevermind, I see the 008 listed in the ingredients. doh

    Mango IPA

Thanks Chad, that helps quite a bit. I just picked up a 3 lb bag of frozen mango cubes.

    AHB kalamazoo IIPA

I just ordered this kit two days ago myself. I've read that a starter and blow off tube are necessities with this kit. Can't wait!

    Mango IPA

This sounds delicious. Mind if I ask a couple questions? Was this for a 5 gallon batch? Do you happen to remember what the gravity readings were? Or the final ABV? Did the frozen cubes go in the primary immediately? And how long did you primary for? How long did you ferment in the...

    IPA refuses to carb... wlp007?

Yes. Same here....finally. I've rolled em twice and shook em good once over the past couple weeks. I popped one tonight after over 5 1/2 weeks in the bottle and there was a slight 'pst'. Poured it pretty hard and there were signs of a head and some carbonation. Not much, but it's started. So I...

Black Butte Porter XXIII clone... Help?

Thanks humann brewing. I noticed that on their website, they list coffee as an ingredient for the XX/XXI, but not for the XXIII. (from their website) XXIII. So where to next? What's 2011's rich, imperial take on Black Butte Porter? Just for kicks, you dream. Orange zest perhaps? From Spanish...

Black Butte Porter XXIII clone... Help?

Curious on if you brewed this seebass, and if so, how is it coming along. I just had a XXIII bomber over the weekend and it was by far the best Porter I've ever had.

    dry dock apricot blonde

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Does anyone have a good recipe for the Dry Dock Apricot Blonde? They don't post them on their website anymore, and I'd like to try a crack at this awesome beer.

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

I don't have any experience with dry yeast, but I used a starter with the Wyeast and pitched an addition pack just to make sure. I just transferred to the 2ndary today after 2 weeks and a FG of 1.020 - 1.021. Really tasty as is already. :mug: Also added the Zaya Rum to the oak chips...

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

Yeah Mr Green, that's what I was thinking, ended up just using the sock anyways, but will probably do an open bag mash next time. And there will be a next time. Just checked the gravity after 1 1/2 weeks in the primary and it's down to 1.021 from 1.063. Will probably bring the temp a little and...

    IPA refuses to carb... wlp007?

I have a IIPA 1 month in the bottle that refuses to carb as well. I have rolled the bottles a couple times so far and nothing. Flat as a wall. IIRC, I used wlp001 with a 1 liter starter and an additional vial since it was a big bear. 2 weeks primary, 2 1/2 weeks secondary. I'll probably roll em...

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

Nice! Mine has only been in the primary for a week so far....gonna let it ride at least another week or before checking gravity and racking. It just stopped bubbling last night. Fermentation went very nice. Violent for the 1st two days, then nice and mellow for the next 3-4.

IIPA kits: Which one to choose?

I wasn't really aware of that much of a difference between an Imperial and a Douple IPA. Either way, I have no real preference over one or the other. While I like Pliney, I'd something a bit bigger with maybe not as much pine. Also, pliney finished a bit dry for me, not that I dislike it, I...

IIPA kits: Which one to choose?

Thanks for the reply's so far guys. martygrumps, unfortunately, we don't get Bell's here in Colorado so I've yet to have a Hopslam. I've heard a lot about it though and it sounds like I would love it based on their description/profile of the beer. brewin570 - thanks for the follow-up. I've...

IIPA kits: Which one to choose?

The 115th is at the top of my list currently...and I just noticed that it does indeed come with a whole lb of hops so that must be quite the balancing act. Is there a commercial beer you would compare it to?

IIPA kits: Which one to choose?

So, I've resigned myself to sticking with brew kits for the foreseeable future due to some hit/miss recipe's I've tried to create on my own. I'm only 8 batches in and may have tried to do too much too fast. I'd like to just take it easy for the next few batches and use kits that have been proven...

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

Brewed this one up today. Used a little bit too much water for the full boil and ended up missing the OG a little bit (1.062 vs 1.065).....and apparently my thermometer is junk. It was reading that the wort was under 70, so I dumped it in the carboy and pitched the yeast only to then look at the...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Thanks again bottlebomber.....I was thinking of doing exactly what you state here after doing a bit of more research here. That spells it out perfectly for me! Regards, Phil
