We no need no stinking beer gun...

I just used this contraption yesterday for the first time. Worked like a charm! At $5.99 for the replacement auto-siphon center tube and .99 for the stopper, that's $6.98 total! That's less than a tenth of the cost of the beer gun and accessory kit. Works for me!

    Co2 Near Stafford VA

I just did that very thing with a brand new tank I got for Christmas. I took it to Arcet in Fredericksburg and they said, "We can fill it for $35.00, or exchange it for $18.99". The exchange won. I will say, the one I got as an exchange looked brand new. Here's their info, if you're interested...

USPS, why don't you understand RETURN TO SENDER?

No wonder the Post Office is close to going out of business.

    Should I rack yet?

I noticed yesterday (Thanksgiving Day) that the activity had ceased, or at least dropped to levels I don't have the patience to detect. So I took a gravity reading in the morning, another one at night, and one again this afternoon. All consistent and stable, so I went ahead and racked it to...

    Should I rack yet?

Thanks. I'm going to let it sit a few more days while keeping an eye on it.

    Should I rack yet?

Last week, I brewed a Kaiser Alt, which I found at braukaiser's site: Kaiser Alt - German brewing and more It's my first all-grain batch. It's been in a 6 1/2 gallon glass carboy for seven days. After cooling/aeration, I pitched two packs of Wyeast 1007 German Ale yeast, and after about 4...

    Greeting From Germany

Found this one on the Weyermann's site. They're located in Heilbronn, north of Stuttgart, west of Nurnberg: Herzlich willkommen bei Brau-Partner Click on the "Shop" tab, then click on the "Für Haus-und Hobbybrauer" link, then on the "Für Hobbybrauer" link - that will take you to a page...

    Yet Another Ward Labs Analysis...

Thanks for the replies. That IS good news! I'm very surprised as well. Neighbors have mentioned their water being high in iron, and hard. For some reason, not ours. I'm very happy about that though. :rockin:

How to Make a Mash Paddle

I made this one today from a 1x6x36 inch maple board from Home Depot. I think it came out nice. The blades measures 4 1/2" x 16". The entire paddle is 36" long.

    Oktoberfests

I really like the Sam Adams I got this year. It has a really nice malt flavor, preceded of course by the malt aroma. I also had some of the Paulaner on tap at a local Oktoberfest - it was SUPERB! I need to try brewing my own next year. :mug:

Can this boil-off rate be right?

That's just what Beersmith figured for my set-up.

Can this boil-off rate be right?

It sounded like a lot to me, but I guess I'm not alone. Glad to hear that. It happens once in a while - the me being smart part. Thanks for the replies.:mug:

Can this boil-off rate be right?

Wow! I have a new 10 gallon Mega-pot from Northern Brewers. (Really nice pot, by the way). Before brewing my first batch with this pot, I decided to check what the boil-off rate is with it. I brought 5 measured gallons of water to a rolling boil (not an aggressive boil)and started my timer, set...

    Rubbermaid Mashtun

The hole in my rubbermaid mash tun measured .838". The 1.5" nipple that came with my cooler bulkhead/valve from Bargainfittings.com fit perfectly: snug, but not too tight.

    Too Cool for Carbonation?

Thanks. I cleared some space in my office closet, where it's a nice comfy 74°. It's due to be done today, but I'm going to let it sit for a couple more days before I refrigerate any of it, just to be sure.
