    Boil time

Theres always blue flames coming out of the burner. If i open the damper fully, it sounds like a jet engine and the flames are about 1/2" above the burner. Closed as much as possible and the flames are blue but orange at the kettle.

    Boil time

So I've got my new BIAB setup almost finished. I am boiling water in my keggle with a Darkstar 2.0 just to see how long itll take. So i started with 8 gallons of 62° water. Im an hour and 45 minutes in and its just about 200°. I feel it should be a bit quicker than this... Any tips or ideas?

    DIY Sight tube

Great idea with the hacksaw! Think I'll make another this weekend. Ive got a good chunk of pipe left. Thanks! Yeah, I tried etching a scrap piece last night the cheap way you etch S.S. and it didnt work much at all, so I knew I had to think of a better way. [emoji482]

    DIY Sight tube

I just finished my DIY sighttube and its not too bad. I could've done better had I had a dremel and a little patience. But all in all, it'll do what it needs to. Its a polycarbonate plastic tube with a compression fitting in the T. Then I used a 1/2 copper pipe and sliced it down the middle...

    Can I etch copper?

Ive got a newly installed sight glass, but now I want to slide a piece of copper piping over it and cut a 3/8" slit out of it the long way to be able to see the plasic pipe for the sight glass. I want to try etching volume markings in the copper the way people do to stainless with a qtip...

Asheville is an odd city for sure. Went there a few years ago, and yeah, the strange people make strange brews. My son calls it the "weird town" haha

    Burner sufficient?

Oh, the hobby has consumed me. [emoji12] Ive spent hundreds on equipment and whatnot. Ive got a brewpi controlled fermentation chamber that is very precise and accurate. I just needed to up my game in the brewing department. Thats why I'm switching to biab.

    Burner sufficient?

Im going to start biab soon and i have a keggle and a darkstar 2.0 burner. Will the burner be sufficient to boil 8 gallons? Or should I be saving for a bigger burner?
