    Must try beers in Minnesota?

If you can find Brau Brothers Hopsession, it's an incredibly hoppy super pale ale. I second going to Town Hall and Fulton. Four Firkins is a great place for craft beer (it's in St. Louis Park) also Blue Max has a HUGE selection down in Burnsville.

    Anyone brewed Ferocious?

I'm sure the Midwest version is good, and all this talk has made me wanna buy their version...that's why I was on the site the other day. I will say, there is actually a very big difference in the recipe from one to the other. Check it out.

    Anyone brewed Ferocious?

Yeah, I actually read that yesterday while on midwest's website. Midwest's recipe is different though. The nb kit is perfect...a buddy of mine has brewed it several times, and it's amazing

    Northern Brewer

I've been a loyal nb buyer since I started brewing and as disappointing as it is, I've got a buddy that will order the same time as me and split shipping costs. It's not much better, but its something. I just placed an order that was $115, and shipping was $13.52. I live in eastern SD and I...

    The gods must be crazy

I'm an extract brewer and have friends that said they'd help me move on to AG when I'm ready. I know it takes extra gear that will cost me, so I haven't really felt like doing yet, but then this happened... I live next to a soccer complex and every time there is a big tournament a bunch of...

    The Official Disappointment Thread

Wow! That's sh*tty AmandaK! (pun totally intended). I just started brewing this year and so far even batch has turned out damn good, besides my imperial rye IPA, that I brewed with "waaaaay too much honey", so says my buddy that has been brewing for 10+ years...we still drank it all...

    Anyone brewed Ferocious?

Northern brewer actually has a surly furious kit, not a clone...a collaboration with surly's masterbrewer. If done right, it's AMAZING!

    Northern Brewer

Bummer!!! They claim they are lowering tons of prices to offset the shipping change.

    Anyone brewed Ferocious?

It's a clone of Surly Furious...The greatest IPA ever made! I'm sure it's a great kit

I'm brewing a RIS on September 7th (I'm away from home for work, and that's when I'll be home next). I plan on adding cocoa nibs and bourbon soaked oak cubes I the secondary...I'm planning on letting the secondary sit for 2 to 3 months. I've read about people adding a second yeast pack at...

Any good ideas of what to add to a stout?

I was thinking of doing a porter or stout like this...any idea how much orange zest I would need?

fall is approaching! what are you brewing to prepare?

I'm working in Montana for the next few months, so brewing will be tough, but I'm home every 2 weeks and have plenty of plans. Just bottled my Super Pale Ale, and ordered my bourbon aged RIS ingredients...I also want to try the Town Hall Hope and King Scotch Ale kit and Surly Smoke kit from...

My yeast pack was broke upon arrival

I freaked out way too early...I realized the smack pack hadn't actually broke. I'm guess the heat of the delivery truck must have made it inflate a bit more than usual. I threw it in the fridge and it's already coming down a bit. No starter...I'm making a sessionable pale ale. trying my...
