    False bottom/screen for carboy?

Were the hops on the inside of the screen? I have not had that issue with beers that have had 8 oz dry hops. How was your set up oriented with the elbow? Straight up, to the side?

    False bottom/screen for carboy?

When you transferred did you throttle the valve, or just open it up full bore? Bottle or kegging?

    All-Grain Setup

Gravity fed all grain or herms? You could get 3 vessels of your choice, and start with a gravity fed system. Later you could add the components to make a herms system if you want to continue to tinker or upgrade. I started with biab and quickly went to 3 vessel as i felt the temp control was...

    Brew Boss Sous Vide

I wondered if anyone had considered this. Nice to know!

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you go to a new restaurant and order and ipa, and are served a lager, then proceed to help the owner troubleshoot his keg lines to find the couplers were switched.

    Long mash temp maintenance

Herms/rims set up imo. Once you have one you should be able to hold your temps for as long as you want with no drops or fluctuations. Yes that's a big jump from coolers, but if you are going to continue brewing for the long haul it will pay off.

Bottling and Future Kegging in an Apartment

I hated and still lament bottling. I probably bottled for less than six months, before i scoured craigslist for kegs and got my co2 tank and regulator. Since then my beers have become much better due to the ability to close transfer. Ymmv

Anvil Brewing cooling system - anyone use yet?

Seems like it would be easier to just put the fermenter in the mini fridge imo.

    Buying equipment to get started

I would put together a pilot brew system. One that could do 5 or 10 gallon batches. Electric brewery eherms imo. Outside of that read and study like you mean it, and always keep learning more to better your brewing.

    Adding fruit to primary

The sugar from the fruit should reactivate fermentation, so if you are quick about it you should be fine. Havent had oxidation flavors in my fruit beers personally.

Keezer won't stay warm enough for lager

For fermentation i like to have both cooling and heating options to fight temperature swings. Chest freezers, as i have found out recently, continue to drop in temp after they are shut off.

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

The excess co2 will equalize into the fermenter, and the siphon/ close transfer should work the same. Ideally the keg should be purged of o2 and filled with co2.

    Looking for input

At first it was full power on when plugged in, and of when unplugged. But once I got the controller I have full control of power. During my boils I would just let it go full power on till flame out, where I'd pull the plug and begin steps or cooling.

That is how this rig started off. After several upgrades its a 120v 1 tier herms.

    Looking for input

You can install a stainless water heater element in an existing kettle with no controller to get started for less than $50. Then just brew and save until you can make or buy a controller and pump. Gtg
