    Raisins for carbonation?

I was reading through some of the recipes in Brooklyn Brew Shop's book for some inspiration on my next brew. I came across a recipe called "Prohibition Ale" and it called for raisins to be put in each bottle. Apparently a woman told the good people at Brooklyn Brew Shop that she use to brew beer...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Shipyards Pumpkinhead - Tastes like spicy apple celery. Little back story: My friend was raving about it ever since he realized fall was around the corner. We went on a pumpkin ale binge for a while and bought all and any pumpkin beers we happen to stumble upon in our local stores. Each...

Funny brew day disaster with girlfriend.

I live in NYC and have limited space I was unable to brew over the summer due to a lack of an air conditioning where my fermentaters are. I was super excited about making a Pumpkin Ale. I'm not sure if it was my excitement or the number of brews I drank but things didn't go the way they were...

Don't drink too many home brews while home brewing.

In my drunken excitement about my first Pumpkin Ale, I almost forgot to pitch the yeasties. :drunk: I had to open up my primary again to pitch them. I hope nothing got contaminated because this beer smells delicious!!

    The Walking dead

Last night show really pissed me off. The ending had so many loopholes it was almost as if the writers were like "screw it lets just kill Shane...somehow". 1) Shane obviously thought this whole thing through (as spur of the moment as it was) why would he wait till he was 500 feet from the house...

    Fermentation Temperature Control

Cool. I was thinking of joining a club at some point. My initial search didn't yield very much as they are mostly upstate NY. The next meeting location is about an hour by public transportation from where I live.

    Fermentation Temperature Control

Thanks guys. I think I will try the wet towel method first. The swamp tank looks ideal, but I think it would take up too much room if I had two batches at the same time. My tiny apt brew station set up is already taking up a bunch of space in the kitchen and my roommates complain about it...

    Fermentation Temperature Control

Hi guys, How do you maintain a cooler fermentation temperature during the warmer seasons? I don't have a ton of room in my tiny NYC apt, so I'm not sure some sort of fridge would work. I read somewhere that wrapping wet towels around the carboy/pail and placing it in front of a fan. Has...
