First All Grain big beer with lots of hops. Some questions.

Is there a good resource to find how much water 1 oz of hops will absorb during the boil, and how much they will absorb during dry hopping?

First All Grain big beer with lots of hops. Some questions.

Does it sound like the additional .5 hops accounts for the boil (I would usually do 8 gallons for 90 minutes but BeerSmith is saying 8.5)? I know that I would need to add more to not lose some from the dry hopping. Right now I am brewing with a kit so I cannot increase my grain.

    chest freezer fermenter

One tip is to build some insulation out of styrofoam and tape it to the side of the fermenter. That will keep the temperature of the actual wort to what you want, and will reduce the amount of cycling that the freezer will need to do.

First All Grain big beer with lots of hops. Some questions.

Hello everyone, I have made a few all grain beers, so far they have all been pretty average in their amount of hops and alcohol content. On July 4th I plan on making a Pliny the Elder clone and have some questions. This recipe uses a total of 14oz of hops. 9oz in the boil (90 minute boil)...

Two kegs in and I'm sold using syrups for variety rocks!

Here you are: http://www2.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=11760625&whse=BD_564&topnav=bd&cat=50849&hierPath=11121*50862*11888*50849*&lang=en-US I'm not sure if it is possible to get Costco business delivery as a consumer, however. Here is another random seller on the internet...

Two kegs in and I'm sold using syrups for variety rocks!

All of the Torani pumps that I can find are 1/4 oz. I suppose pumping four times isn't a big deal but 1/2 oz would be better. Do you think you could provide a link? Thanks! EDIT: Found them. Now I just need to find some bottles that will still fit in a fridge comfortably with the pump attached.

What was your guys' solution to the issue of the leaky 1oz pumps? Is there a better pump solution out there?

Cheap, easy, effective beer line cleaner

Thanks, I went to home depot to try a 3/8'' flare fitting and it fit perfectly. I had to use my firestone ball lock post, the cornelius did not fit as well.

Cheap, easy, effective beer line cleaner

How were you able to get a disconnect attached to the 3/8'' threads? I went to my local homebrew shop and both the cornelius and firestone ball lock posts would not fit. Do you just force it on and mess up the threads? I suppose that wouldn't be bad because from then on it would just always be a...

    Regulator Issue

Sure thing. I have a double body regulator. I always leave the CO2 tank on when connected to the regulator, and I pretty much leave the setting on both outputs at 12psi. I have found that when first carbing a beer, the needle of the output on the regulator will go down to 0psi (after being set...

    Regulator Issue

The gas does stay on. If this item is faulty that will be the third faulty item in the same order. I've had to return a shank and a leaky nitro regulator.

    Regulator Issue

I have a regulator that will go down to 0 on the output after being set to 12 psi. This only seems to happen when I am initially force carbing a beer. Is this normal? Usually I will bump it back up to 12 when I notice and it will stay there just fine.

    Can I fix this shank?

Yea looks like I am going to have to return it. I was able to pry the o ring to move it, but the groove that it sits in is too shallow on the broken one. The faucet will not screw in. Heres to hoping that Krome will return my email and take care of it.

    Can I fix this shank?

Yes the oring is metal and it does not wrap the entire way around. I think in production they must place a round bar on the shank and then fold it into position. I will try moving it with a flathead, hopefully that works!

    Can I fix this shank?

Hello, I purchased a kegerator setup and am just now getting around to hooking it up. I didn't notice this problem until I hooked up a faucet and spewed beer everywhere. One of my shank's o-rings is in the wrong spot. Wrong: http://i.imgur.com/akFwd.jpg Correct...

How long does a nitro tank last?

Sorry to bump my own thread. Surly there must be some people here who own a nitro system and can tell me a normal amount of PSI loss per corny keg? I serve at 30 PSI, and carbonate with regular CO2.

How long does a nitro tank last?

I am not totally certain how large the tank is. It is pretty large. I have an image of it next to a 20# CO2 tank: http://i.imgur.com/16125.jpg You are right, I was reading the gauge wrong.

How long does a nitro tank last?

The pressure did drop when I put it into the kegerator initially, but both of those measurements were taken while it was cold. Also, measuring by pressure is how it is done for Nitro, since nitrogen is not in liquid form.

How long does a nitro tank last?

Hello everyone. I have a new nitro setup and I am wondering how long a nitro keg tends to last for you guys. I have only had 1 keg on tap so far, and I carbonated it with pure CO2 and have just been pushing with the nitro mixture. When I put the keg into the kegerator it was reading 1,000 psi...
