    Everyone has a moment...

If I had tablets lol. 1/2 tsp of sugar and hope for the best!

    Underfermention Problem!

Just because the airlock isn't doing anything doesn't mean the BEER isn't doing anything. The airlock will bubble but then stop, the yeast is still working, its just not producing enough gas to push the airlock up constantly. Typically, my us-05 is fairly constant, but most of the Belgian...

Wierd oval bubbles on top of my beer.

agree...leave it alone, that is some happy beer :drunk: ps: don't open it again till bottling! :)

    Everyone has a moment...

So I just thought I would share this. In the two and half years of brewing I have yet to do this... I got 43 bottles into my night time bottling excursion...and forgot to add the priming sugar :) Guess I shouldn't drink a six pack of HB's before I start bottling. HA! :mug:

    Beer Recipe Software

I would have to put my vote in Beersmith. Hasn't let me down.

    Another Brutus System is Born

Certainly jealous, I can't convince the wife to go AG yet because we do not have the space. But someday soon I will be in your same shoes with a brew in my hand and brewing my first AG on my own setup ^^

DME contains non-malt sugars - WTF?

Never seemed to have an issue with my supplier. Not anything that I would notice at least. And if you can't notice it, don't sweat it.

    Tonight: First Brewing

Honestly, their is not really a difference between buying your own stuff and buying a kit. Buying your own ingredients simply requires following a recipe, which is, for the most part, the same thing a kit does, just a kit has the ingredients measured out for you. Don't be scared ^^

Help: Sam Adams Imperial White (10.3% ABV)

Good luck with it and let me know how it comes out. It is one of my favorite beers of all time and they do a phenomenal job of hiding the high alcohol. One word of caution, don't plan on drinking it anytime soon. A fellow HB'er brewed an Imperial White and it took about 8 months till it was...

Certainly can. I usually don't have water in the airlock because I get water all over the kitchen, but it won't hurt anything.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I figured I might as well throw my 2 cents in on this one because it is one of the beers that constantly goes, and it seems I am brewing a new batch of this every 2 weeks. First, If you want this beer to completely clear, you will have to go to extremes (and if you puree the fruit it will never...

    Bottled 3 weeks ago...

I almost always drink beer that is luke warm. Allows me to fully appreciate all of the different flavor intricacies. Cold just kills the palate ;) but I do chill my HB's for at least 4 hours before I even think of opening one. Its usually overnight chill....out of the fridge for an...

    Using Growlers to Store Beer???

    Growler bombs are always fun!

If your kit came with an Ale Pale, it should have 1,2,3,4 and 5 gallon markings on it as well. Don't overfill your Primary. Mose is right, watered down beer is a travesty!

My first ever Wheat Beer I made with a Belgian Yeast strain painted my walls with Krausen because I didn't use a blow-off ^^ Might want to use one just in case

Doesn't matter. Glass Carboy or Plastic Bucket. Its all up to you. I prefer buckets because they are easier to clean, cheap as hell, and if they drop for some reason, they don't shatter into a million pieces. But if you have a carboy then by all means use that. Its really cool watching beer...

    Tonight: First Brewing

Honestly, the only way to truly know when your wort is at the correct temperature is with a thermometer. I like to use an Infrared Thermometer simply because its instant read and the less things I put in my beer that could contain little critters that will affect my beer....the happier I am...
