Do regular Perlick / Nukatap beer taps work well for soda and seltzer?

Would be nice to go that route but not practical for me due to space and cost constraints. I won't use off the shelf PID controllers. Manual control to start out. When I build my brew controller, PID will be done in software on a microcontroller.
