Mystery Perlick Faucet - Help Identify

Nobody ever told me PBW does alchemy. A thirty minute soak in hot PBW transmuted my brass faucet to stainless steel. Seriously, I would have sworn the inside of that faucet was brass. I remember reading that beer stone looks like brass here on the forums but I didn't quite believe...

Best Way to Install Airlock Grommet in Bucket Lid

The Harbor Freight punch works great. I just made ten fermentation lids in five minutes. I used a small piece of scrap 2x4 as a backer. One strike with a 5lb mini-sledge makes a perfect hole, nice and clean. The 1/2 inch punch is a good size for the black grommets. They slip in easy and...

Mystery Perlick Faucet - Help Identify

Upon closer inspection some of the o-rings have degraded into black smears on metal. Check out the 7th picture under "additional pictures" in my first post. Can anyone tell if my faucet is stainless or chrome from the pics? I don't know what to look for to tell the difference. No luck on...

Mystery Perlick Faucet - Help Identify

All six faucets have all of their internal o-rings, gaskets, washers, and bearing cups intact. I know I can hit up McMaster for the o-rings, gaskets, and washers. Don't know about the bearing cups though. KegWorks has the most complete 425 rebuild kit I've found and it's less than $6...

Mystery Perlick Faucet - Help Identify

This thread looks to be asking about the same model but it doesn't end in a positive ID other than "some kind of 425." Will a "regular" 425 rebuild kit with the ball and socket style plunger/lever work on my faucets?

Interesting... Done. We'll see if they bother answering some random Homebrewer's questions about a discontinued faucet.

Mystery Perlick Faucet - Help Identify

I got a Perlick T-tower that has six of these faucets. The tower was salvaged from a bar that went out of business. I attempted to identify the tower on the Perlick website but didn't find an exact match. I suspect the tower is very old. Same with the faucets. This faucet came straight off...

What Hose to use on Huge 2-4" Barb Fittings?

These camlock barb fittings are available in sizes up to 4 inches. What kind of hose is used on the larger sizes, say 2 to 4 inches? I'm asking because I'm considering using one of the larger sizes for the main line of my keg washer.

The Venting Thread: Let It Out, Folks!

Wow. Some people don't have a stich of manners. See also Walmart. And Amazon. Kind of funny Amazon is doing to Walmart what Walmart did to the rest of American retail.

The Venting Thread: Let It Out, Folks!

Drove 45 minutes to a LHBS. Walked up to the door. Small sign on door says "No Customers Allowed in Store. Online orders only. Due to the pandemic." Funny, I was on their website before heading out. I didn't see anything about online only. Got home. Scoured the website. Not a single...

PSA Protect your Yeast Nutrient if you have Cats

I found my cat digging like a maniac in a bin of brewing stuff. I though it was funny at first. On closer inspection, it wasn't so funny. A brand new bag of Fermaid O was torn to shreds. The powder was everywhere. I wrote it off as typical psyco cat behavior at first but as time passed I...

Looking for recommendations on upping my grinder game

The business end of that Pleasant Hill model looks an awful lot like a food processor blade. How about an industrial side-discharge food processor from Robot Coupe? https://www.robot-coupe.com/usa/en_US/listing-produits/f/vegetable-preparation-machines/18196?functions%5B%5D=puree The smaller...

Can you point me to directions on the use of k-meta + sorbate to keg stabilize? I have 32 gallons of cider going and I intend to keg it.

200+ lbs of pears and apples and no press to be found

That's a beauty! Campden tablets are the standard for cider. Some people add a fixed number per gallon. Some people add varying amounts based on the PH of the raw cider.

Making Cider with 8 Different Yeasts - Which Should I Supersize to 5 Gallons?

Thanks everyone. So much useful information posted so far. That scares the crap out of me considering the amount of cider I'm doing. Is that outcome common when kegging? I don't have room to refrigerate all 32 gallons of kegged cider. I was considering Potassium Sorbate when kegging as an...

Making Cider with 8 Different Yeasts - Which Should I Supersize to 5 Gallons?

Fresh pressed from an orchard. Thanks! Always planned to report my results. It's probably obvious but I'm doing this to figure out which yeasts I like best. All batches will be treated exactly the same to isolate yeast differences. Here's the plan: Start with fresh pressed, unpasteurized...
