Installing ball lock gas post onto a sanke keg?

BJA, I was thinking of these as well: Mine are brass and could be used with silicon o rings as well.

Syphoning on the level or even uphill

I push mine with CO2 as well from the SS "carboys" into corines or another sanke. I now use a 2" tri-clover setup, but used to use a #10.5 drilled stopper with a 1/2" CU dip tube/ racking cane. I once had the stopper blow out the top with perhaps 5 psi in the tank. Damn near blew my eardrums...

Syphoning on the level or even uphill

True, but after what happened to me (and you) I am leery of glass. Just handling those two carboys this last week, made me think of all that can go wrong. Kegs of cheep beer are cheep...lacerations aren't. I am a huge fan of SS. Got all of my kegs from parties over the years, repurposed...

Syphoning on the level or even uphill

Wow, if I had a hospital visit due to glass carboys, I'd give up on glass. I did have a 6.5 gal carboy break on me- in a bathtub. Not a huge loss, just a batch of beer. The entire bottom fell out, in one piece, wort everywhere in the tub- no injuries. I now only ferment in stainless. I do...

    getting smells out of kegs?

Done this to around 30 kegs...it works well!

    getting smells out of kegs?

Fill it with hot water and 1/2 box of baking soda. Take the posts and o rings off and throw them in. Toss the lid and gasket inside as well and let it sit for a few days. No more smell.

    What to do with this?

I use mine for the standards on a cheese press. I also use others on top of 3/4" EMT conduit that I use for my hop trellis (makes it easy to tie string to)...

    Why are controllers so expensive?

I just plug my 5500 HLT into a GFCI spa panel and heat her up to about 200 degrees. I use my herims to keep mash temps and to mashout. I switch it over to a 3800 boil kettle and let it rip- my system uses converted sankes without insulation. No controls other than the 50a breaker... Haven't...

PEX pipe for outer shell of counterflow chiller?

You're nuts if you want to attach anything to PEX with JB weld or silicone. Use proper fittings to go to copper and just do it. I've run >5000' of PEX in my house and garage... Yes it's ridged, but if you heat it up and have copper in the center, there is no reason it won't work. Transition...

    eBIAB using Ranco controller

I use one for my smoker and one on my indirect hydronic hot water heater. So they'll work fine for high temp applications.

Show me pics of your dedicated brewing rooms!

Here's mine: On the back of my detached garage, in-floor heat, sky lights, and a three compartment sink. Propane now converted to electric, fermenting in sankes... took about 13 years to get to this point- been brewing since 1994.

    4" triclover fermenter

I ferment in sankes all the time. I sanitize with heat (boil about 2 gallons with foil covering the original hole). I let it steam for about 10-15 minutes then roll the boiled water around inside and tip over to drain. No need for a bigger hole, no infections. After fermenting, I fill it up...

    Adding sugar pre-fermentation

I always foil mine to keep any dirt or debris out of the sanitized hole...

    Soldering Stainless steel

Yes after pulling the tool through. I did a MLT, BK, and HLT 1/2" and 3/4" couplings and 1" locknuts. Total of 12 fittings.

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

There are plenty of mold spores on hops. Looks like the active phase of fermentation was over when added and the headspace never got purged of O2, allowing the mold to grow. As a microbiologist, I'd dump it - yuck!

    Soldering Stainless steel

This process worked well for me!

I have never seen another like it, I over engineered this a long time ago and never use this feature! Get a pump!
