What if I don't enjoy homebrewing?

Hang in there, he can only stiff arm ya for sooo long. Before you know it, you'll be home. My sons getting warmed up for his play time in the sandbox. Supposed to deploy two weeks ago, pulled all his privledges and keep barrack hopping (that would be cool if it included real hops). Last tine he...

    First brew, big success!!

Yes, the beer will continue to age and mature in the fridge, but maybe not as well as if you cellered it and let the beer mature naturally. Cold temps will stop certain work the yeast and beer is going thru. From everything I've read and heard, aging beer by cellering (storing in a cool dry...

    First brew, big success!!

Congrats on your first brew, and try to reserve a few bottles to age a bit and see how it matures. I drank most of my first beer, a week after it was carbed, I've hence reverted to buying craft beer till my next two batches are ready to enjoy.

    Airlock question

You'll find cleaning the 3 piece units much easier. I use em on both plastic and glass with no problems. Plus you can pull the cap and inside piece out and attach a blow off tube easily if needed... Revvy has a great example of this technique ( I'm sure someone will link to it) Good luck and...

    Must buy kegs...

Good advice guys, having a surplus of delabled bottles and being diligent in rinsing will certainly make it easier in the future. As will my speed and efficiency in filling and caping. Couple relative questions about cleaning bottling equipment, first: do you and if so how do you dry the rubber...

    Must buy kegs...

Just finished bottling two batches of beer, and feel acomplished in doing a good job... But man the cleaning, cleaning, cleaning... Arghhhh! Bottling is easy if your only doing the filling part (SWMBO and my oldest son) but I de-labled, cleaned, sanitized over 100 bottles, and did all the...

What am I about to Brew

Seems like a very lite hefe, the recipe I recently made, was 6lbs extract, split 50/50 wheat and reg... With an additional 1 lb of specialty grain. Maybe plus it up on the wheat, as homebrewer 99 stated, and pickup 1.25 cup DME for priming.
