I can answer the second question but would be interested in answers to the first question! No, you can't leave out any hardware without modifying the software. First thing the programme does is to check out the hardware and won't complete the boot process until it does. Chris

Without erasing and reflashing I'm not aware of anything else. Just make sure you have a note of your calibration equation BEFORE you erase! I'd recommend that you use BrewFlasher to performt the erase and reflash although it can be performed with the expressif toolset. Good luck!

Agreed with @clientsoup , the D1 mini will not get pass the hardware detection to boot successfully. You can flash the D1 mini before assembly but it will not boot until completely assembled.

My excuse is age, possibly clouded by homebrew?🥂

Just done a bit of testing. Using Brewflasher to install 2.1.1 all works fine. OTA upgrade from 2.0.0. or 2.1.0 fails.

Sorry messages crossed over. Just to calrify, I'm following instructions that you referenced in earlier message, I don't get any errors reported. I did do an erase first. I'll revert to 2.0.0. for now
