So, my lovely wife, God bless her, using the knowledge that I love beer, bought.....something....from Groupon from The Beer Connoisseur website that actually doesn't state what the heck it is. I THINK it's a magazine subscription (OK, cool), but it doesn't say. I HOPE it's not a website...

A friend recommended that I just add a few tablespoons of honey (to avoid some off flavors from processed sugars?) to up the alcohol level a bit. Anybody done this?

2oz is what I thought I remembered hearing before as well. Thanks, I'll give that a try! BTW- Did you just dump it in, or did you "teabag" it into the boil? Curious because zesting a fruit leaves pretty fine remnants and don't want that to transfer in when I rack to my bottling bucket.

Did you hit up Breakwater Brewing while you were in Oceanside? One of my favorites.

Sounds good. Just a heads up too, most of the owners/brewers in the area are cool enough that if you have a way of getting it back with you, and are there at the right time, will have no problem giving you a tube of their yeast as well.

Same here. Since you're adding your brew to the solution you've created with the priming sugar it starts mixing in to the new solution immediately.

I'm no expert being fairly new to brewing myself but my understanding is that when racking to your bottling bucket the movement of the new solution is more than enough to mix the priming sugar in. That being said, from a straight up chemistry standpoint it should be more than enough. Assuming...
