    Legal Moonshines on the market??

The crap they are selling at the liquor stores is bonded liquor, not moonshine. White dog is unaged whisky. All the store bought stuff Iv'e tasted so far is more like vodka than whitedog whisky.

You know you're a home brewer when?

Probabally here somewhere already but... If you rate commercial beers by how easy the labels peel off. (I am washing new bottles at the moment...)

What style do you brew most?

American Pale ales, Just can't stop comming back to simple, clean tasting 2 row pale malt barley and cascade hops. I did my first decoction mash german lager yesterday, if the finished beer is as good as the unfermented wort was implying, I might just have to change my go to brew. Has that...

    To cold to brew?

I know alot of people on Lake Elwood and lots more on Lake Elwood Road. It's a mile from my house on North Lake rd. If you are referring to Blackstone Pizza, I am not to sure what they have on tap, but I've eaten there a few times.

    To cold to brew?

I brew most of my beers in the winter because it is the only time my house has places that I can lager indoors. I don't use a wort chiller, just set my brewpot on my porch and it is pitching temp in no time. -10f here right now. Seems warm compared to what we have been lately. Johns, I work in...

    Dry Hopping & Sanitization Question

Idophor contains Iodine== Poisonous Using 1/4 oz in 2.5 gal. of water, you can soak items for 2 minutes and then let air dry, according to the bottle. I wouldn't use it if it didn't dry first to evaporate the iodine. If you rinsed you should be good to go but I would use starsan in the...

what was your most dumb move in brewing?

My very first brew, Muntons premium lager, I thought it was neat to watch the bubbles floating to the top of my new 6.5 gallon glass carboy. So I set it in front of my sliding glass window for a couple of days to watch the fermentation, in direct sunlight. My premium lager turned into 5 gallons...

    Hailing from Pittsburgh

Yep, I read it too, Sounds like an adventurous way to start your homebrewing career. Best of luck with your newborn on the way and if you are having the womenfolk judge the IPA then go easy on the bittering hopps. Most women like a tamer flavored beer:cross: (At least tho ones I know)

    Dishwasher to sanitize bottles?

My first batch I bottled I used a 25QT hot water canner and steamed the bottles with boiling water for 10 minutes, just using an inch of water in the bottom of the canner. Bottles were way to hot to grab without tongs and dried fast. I did get some water spots on some bottles but it wiped off...
