Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

I read in another thread (wookie jack clone) about a podcast from Firestone walker and how they hot whirlpool for a half hour or more. I figure if it works for them why it try it? Anyway, a few minutes may be all you need...maybe an experiment is in order

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

I like to let them steep for 20-30 minutes after flameout before chilling. It would be better if you had a pump to whirlpool while steeping.

    Natur L cider

Hello team I picked up 5 gallons of unpasteurized cider from a small orchard in RI and I plan on fermenting spontaneously. Some sources say make a starter with apple skins but I was hoping to just fill a carboy and let go for a week. If I see no signs of fermentation I will have some white wine...

Firestone Walker Wookey Jack Clone Attempt

Mtnagel said it right, schedule is flexible. I just add my first dry hop when I rack to secondary, typically about ten days. I primary in a glass carboy so I can observe fermentation then secondary in a plastic bucket. I usually dry hop in nylon paint strainer bags ( from Home Depot) so the hops...

    Wanna make a blueberry cider

Yes your ratio would be similar to mine. If you want a lot of blueberry flavor you could definetly up the amount, like I said mine has a slight twinge of blueberry in the background. I wouldn't worry about adding until secondary, Apfelweins primary doesn't ferment too vigorously so there's no...

    Wanna make a blueberry cider

Last summer I took my kids blueberry picking and ended up with like 8 pints, way more then we could eat so I froze about 3pounds. Freezer mishap, blah blah the berrys defrosted at the same time I was making my 5 gal apfelwine and I added these right to the carboy. After about 2 months in the...

Firestone Walker Wookey Jack Clone Attempt

Firestones yeast is detailed earlier in this thread; that said, I have brewed this twice using different yeast strains and both batches have been excellent although not quite wookie jack. One of my friends said I was an alchemist after tasting it. Definetly a great beer and a great recipe. I...

I like your pilot system. Do you have a parts list? Maybe the most progress in five days of any build I've seen.
