New post a picture of your pint

Wallonian Farmhouse Table Saison Thanks to badlee for the recipe! A bit strong @ 7%, but pretty true to the Saison style. Spicy, fruity and dry and very drinkable. I'm hoping that a little aging will mellow this one out, but so far, I'm pretty sure I'll drink this keg dry.

    Fairly newbie...

I started with 5 gal kits years ago, and when I stepped back into it 2 years ago, I did a few kits to get me up and running while I put my all grain set up together. One tip, don't kid yourself, this hobby will will constantly make you want to upgrade and add stuff constantly. So if you going to...

    Stir plates

I believe "stove top safe" means flame only. I don't think Borosilicate is to be used on electric or Seran. Pyrex can be, but only with the thicker pyrex glass. Lab quality Erlenmeyer flasks are specifically designed for quick heating and cooling and back to heating repeat, repeat, repeat...

    what are these?

Be careful using dish soap. Some have harmful chemicals. Safer Soap is your best bet. You can get it at any garden center.

    First batch

You should be fine then. Give it a bit more than 48 hours and I'll bet it gets going. And like the others said, don't completely trust the air lock, bad seals are common.

You also failed to mention what yeast you pitched, and what temp you are fermenting at. I have seen yeast take up to 72 hours before it gets going. Plus dependant on the yeast you are using the temp plays a big part in how well the yeast gets going.

    Kegerator Door question

Here is what I had to do to mine. It worked out well, but because of the thickness of the new insert I had to make a minor adjustment to the door hinge and bring it out a bit so that the door would close with a proper seal.

I believe the DOT3A means aluminum and they get tested every 3 years. So 3 years after 2015. But don't quote me, I've had a few ;-) They will tell you when you try to get it filled.

New Hop Garden 2014 (pic heavy)

I was just in Delhi picking up 12 from Rambling Road. We have family in Port Dover so I'm out that way quite a bit. Lets hook up and do a swap of beer and hop starters maybe. PM me though.

Good idea on the buy. I'll look into pricing. I might have a connection through a friend.

Connon Nurseries in Waterdown. Same with the Velcro. Although I think last year I got it from Tera. SWMBO like Connon better so she picked it up for me. Which way down the highway?

    Driveway Pilsner

This is one of the best burners out there. They come under different names, but this thing is sturdy as heck and has a banjo burner. This one is at Canadian Tire here in Canada.

The velcro ties and the heavier twine. The regular twine you might use for burlap is a bit thinner and prone to pulling apart.

Brewing, how often is too often?

I brew about every 3 weeks. With summer coming I might go every two for a few sessions. That said I also keg, and can have 3 on tap at once, but try to bottle some from each keg to go back and compare it to a same beer later on. I'll also bottle from the keg when I need to free up a keg for a...
