    Mead question

Hello all. I made a simple mead. 17lbs honey, water and yeast. Fermented for over a year. Bottled. Nothing more complicated than that. It has a slight to medium alcohol burn when drinking. I would like to learn why. Any thoughts?

    Mash Tun Question

I was making a Purple Haze clone. Only 9.5 lbs grain. 1.5 ratio so there was about 3.75 gallons water. Yes there was 4 lbs American wheat. However I tend to get stuck sparges more frequently lately no matter grains I am using. Thoughts?

    Mash Tun Question

Hi all. Need some thoughts. I use an oblong Igloo cooler to do my mashing with a ss braided toilet hose. For the most part this works very well......for the first 2 or 3 times I mash with a new hose. And then it gets very difficult to draw any wort out no matter what I do. For the life of...

    Going pro question

Hello all. I am not sure this is the right form for this so please forgive me if it is. I may be stumbling into an opportunity to open a small brew pub in New York state near Buffalo. I know I have seen a handful of people on here that have gone through this process of taking this wonderful...

    Recipe flavor question

Hi All, I am about to brew one of my favorite beer clones, Brooklyn Summer Ale all grain. My question is about dry hopping or not. I love the grapefruity flavor it has however I am not a hoppy drinker. For hops this recipe is calling for .50 oz Cascade at 60 and 30 minutes and then a dry...

    1 gallon all grain questions

Hi all. I am about to get into trying 1 gallon all grain batches. I have been doing 5 gallon batches for a few years now and have that process down. I know I need to scale everything down by 5. No problem there. Question 1. I would like to try a no sparge BIAB on my stovetop. I know my...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I have a question. I made this recipe about a year and a half ago. Obviously it is fermented out by now. But my question is will this still be good? Last time we taste tested it awhile ago the comment was made that it had entered into the "wine" taste. Can I still back sweeten it or have I...

    No chill method question

I would like to try a no chill method on my next brew. What I am going to do is after boil I will move to a pail and the put a lid on it and put it in my temperature controlled chest freezer. Can anyone tell me what temperature the freezer should be set at and how long it might take to bring...

    "No Chill" Containers

So let me ask this question as I have been wondering about it for a long time. Would it work to let the just boiled wort cool down a bit and then put it in a plastic pail with lid on tight and then move it immediately to my temperature controlled chest freezer over night I should be ok to pitch...
