    Pliny inspired hop schedule

This will be the first time I do this, Vinnie Cilurzo has said this is the way they dry hop Pliny the Younger. It will be an expensive first time experiment I'll tell you that.

    Pliny inspired hop schedule

According to Northernbrewer each ml of hopshot = 10 IBU's, I'm adding a total of 20 ml :/ the keg hops will be added 3 days before serving, it's for an event I'm having so it'll run out before it can become grassy I think.

    Pliny inspired hop schedule

Hey you guys, I'm brewing a pliny inspired IIPA this weekend using the wealth of recipes for something silimar, grain bill is pretty basic with 12lbs of 2 row, some sugar, some cara 40 and some wheat. I do however want to dry hop it 4 times alla PtY, what do you think of my hop schedule...

Magoo's Mild, 3rd place in Cat 11 at 2011 HBT Comp

So..? How'd it go with the new yeast? Which was it, did you modify the grain bill to make it more "complex"?

    Keggle mashtun Thermometer hight

I have two, one in the middle for 10 gallons and one about a quarter up for 5, they look great! Unfortunately that's all they do, look good, I have 2 from bargainfittings and one from bobbyM and even after calibrating them each time, they are pretty much worthless... I would suggest you spend...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

That's encouraging! I'll try to follow the fermentation schedule and will let you guys know how it turns out. It's a bit cold here right now so I'll probably have to set my controller to the desired 83 today, pitched at 65 and I'm letting it free rise, just wondering if that'll be enough.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

So I brewed my interpretation on this yesterday. Used 11 pounds instead of 13.5, couldn't find dark candi sugar so I had to go with clear. Caramelized the first .75 runnings. Ended up with 1.072 gravity and 5.8 gallons into the fermenter. I must have done something wrong as the hydro sample...

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

Yes, I can get things fabricated for a lot less than in the states, hence the reason why I rather not spend the money on used equipment. Thanks for the images! I will work on my plan for fabrication of a jacketed 3 bbl mash tun with water recirculated through said jacket, inlet port at...

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

I've looked at used 3 bbl systems and they're not cheap, welding a jacket around a custom made one won't be that expensive for me. With water between the jackets perhaps 300 feet is a bit too much, I don't know, I'll try to make some calculations; still, 100' is around 120 dlls so it's...

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

After thinking about it, I'm going to wrap copper around my vessel and have a jacket soldered to it, this will be filled with water so the surface area contact will be at it's maximum level. Obviously there will be a drain port as well as a port to pour water on top and perhaps a pressure valve...

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

Coil in mash sounds interesting, has it been done before? Mr Pear: We've been polishing our brewing abilities for a year with the intention of selling our beer, we'll open a tasting room in august which is why we're building a new system. I'm in Mexico and the craft beer scene here is just...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

How about I lower the grain bill to end up with ~7.5 abv? would that help to have it "ready" in a couple of months?

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

Copper tubing is relatively cheap so I wouldn't mind if I had to buy 300', it would still be much cheaper than buying a used 3bbl system.. would it work though?

Copper tubing to control mash temperature

We're going pro in a few months and are having a 3 bbl system custom built for us, pretty much what Hess in SD has but bigger. I understand that with all that thermal mass in the mash tun, it wont lose much heat through the process, but I still want a way to control it, I'm thinking of wrapping...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

I'm going to brew the new world recipe this sunday, I need to have it ready by march 24th though, I know the more I age this the better it'll be, can I work with 2 months from grain to glass..?

English Porter Atonement Brown Porter (2011 HBT Gold Category 12)

Making this tomorrow, do you think I would benefit if I mash @ 155 to make it a bit sweeter?
