Best way to clean a Better Bottle?

I found this thread after a google search of a similar problem. I just used better bottles for the first time. After about 30 minutes on my carboy washer, the brown kraeusen ring is completely clean, and the bottle looks sparkling, save for a faint, white ring where the kraeusen ring was. It...

Overtightening of threaded couplers? Or am I just Paranoid.

Thanks. I've always taken "snug" to mean not loose, but still easy to remove. Sort of how tight you'd put a weldless fitting to slightly compress the o-ring but not squeeze it tight. Sound right to you?

Overtightening of threaded couplers? Or am I just Paranoid.

So I just got my new kettles back from the welder (pics will come later), and screwed in all the dial thermometers, thermowells, ball valves, etc. In a couple instances, in order to get the handle of the ball valve right side up, or the dial thermometer facing the right direction, I really...

Where do you guys get oil for your March Pump.

The March Pump instructions state that they should be lubed with SAE20 non detergent oil. I've been to Home Depot, Lowe's, OSH, Kragen, Autozone and another auto store and can't find SAE 20 non-detergent. Where are you guys finding this?

PVC primer and cement safety question?

So I finally built myself a keg/carboy washer, a modification of SLObrewer's design. http://www.slobrewer.com/howto/kegcarboy-washer/2/ I got a bit sloppy with the purple primer and it got me thinking, is this stuff drinking water safe? I'm using Oatey primer and cement (below) but I find...

Spacing of couplers for a flat bottom kettle.

I just bought 2, 20 gallon Update International (megapot) kettles, and I'm going to have a local welder weld some couplers for ball valves, thermometers and a thermowell. Is there a standard spacing for flat bottomed homebrew kettles? How far from the bottom should I weld the coupler for the...

What do you do when you have left over beer after racking to kegs.

How much are you talkiing about? I suppose you could rack into old soda or water bottles and pressurize with a carbonator cap. If I have a pint or two left, I usually just rack into a pint glass and drink. If I had a couple gallons left, I suppose I'd throw it in my 3 gallon corny.
