    Issues with my beer's attenuation

I've never re-pitched but then 4-5% is fine with me ... I'm just looking to get a good drinking beer, typically something better than I can get locally on tap - I'm not a IPA lover and that seems to be the fad now a days. Also, I love the process of brewing almost as much as the product of...

    Issues with my beer's attenuation

Yep, in my case I'm sure my yeast is good ... I use a starter using liquid yeast 24 hours prior to pitching ... which is why I'm now looking at adding oxygen. Been trying to just adjust one thing at a time, too many variables and it's hard to determine what worked and what didn't. It's all just...

    Issues with my beer's attenuation

I'm fairly new to brewing and my brown ales and porters both have had a OG in the 1.058-1.060 range but after two weeks got stuck in the 1.018-1.020 range - I just cold crashed for a week and kegged them ... I read somewhere that lack of proper aeration of the wort prior to adding the yeast...

Chugger pump mounting bracket separated from weld

No response from the company I purchased it from or the manufacturer ... Guess I'll just try to figure something on my own...

    Need BIAB Equipment Advice

I do BIAB, and I do 10 gallons in a 20 gallon pot and I'd agree that with a 10 or 15 gallon pot for 5 gallon batches, this will makes things much easier to deal with. Also, I use a basket in mine with a bag sized to fit the pot. In my case I have an electric element that I want to keep the bag...

    Protecting the electric element

DAP is what I used based on recommendations on this forum. I just applied it to the base and I don't see any effects around the element. I use an ulwd element, not sure that matters or not.

    Protecting the electric element

Same here ... After running a boil test with just water I noticed a little rust the next day. I cleaned it up and put on some heat resistant food safe silicon on the base and haven't seen an issue since.

    1st AG Fermentation Question

Ride it out ... I've had batches that took 24+ hours before I noticed activity after pitching the yeast from the packet (I ferment in Speidel vessels so I can't see too much either). When I aerate the wort real good and use starters, then usually see something going on within 24 hours. I think...

Chugger pump mounting bracket separated from weld

Anyone else have issues with the mounting bracket coming loose from the weld on their chugger pump? During my last brew session I noticed it was not fully attached. I removed it and noticed it had come separated from the weld (see attached). Any ideas on how to fix this? I've thought about...

Yea, my 20 gal eBIAB kettle weights far more than I thought it would, noticeably more with the BIAB basket, element, two valves and all the tri clover fittings :)

I signed up ... been a long while since I took chemistry in college, so I'll probably try the Organic Chemistry classes at Khan Academy as a refresher. https://www.khanacademy.org/science/organic-chemistry
