    Inkbird and GFCI trouble

I don't know what would cause a ground fault in the keezer. I bought the chest freezer new and simply put a collar on it with three taps. It's nothing too fancy. This is Mississippi so humidity could be my problem.

    Inkbird and GFCI trouble

Didn't mean to post and disappear like that. The outlet is in the garage which at one time was just a carport. All exterior outlets around here are GFCI. I guess there wouldn't be any harm in having an electrician come out and put in a dedicated outlet. Be a good time to have a 220 installed for...

    Inkbird and GFCI trouble

I have a Keezer that doubles as a fermentation chamber through the spring and summer. I have an Inkbird temp controller hooked into a GFCI outlet. It never runs more than a couple of days before it trips the ground fault. I don't have any trouble running the freezer by itself. Going out and...

Brew Kettle - What size barb, what material hose?

Cam locks are nice if you are moving hoses around a lot, but don't be surprised at the sticker shock. I use 1/2 barbs on everything. 3/8 is more common though. Silicone is the way to go for tubing.

Founders KBS (is it worth the cost)?

Founders is coming to my area in a few weeks. Will be interesting to see the initial prices.

    Centennial as whirlpool addition

I rarely whirlpool, but I use centennial at flameout and dry hop with it a lot. Turns out great.

Going to start brewing 3bbl... how much water to start with?

I agree, whatever volume a homebrew calculator says you need, I would add 10% to be on the safe side.

First 5 Gal Brew on Propane Burner and Safety

Not sure what burner that is, but if it's a Bayou Classic it's an OLD one. Also, if it is a Bayou it's not meant to support the weight of a brew kettle, none of the Bayou tall burners are.

    The State of Mississippi.

If you're around Jackson you've got lucky town brewery, if you're on the coast you have several options, lazy magnolia is probably the most popular.

Beer clears in glass but not in the keg (pic)

Every keg or just this one? Were there a bunch of adjuncts in the mash? Does it taste ok or can you pick up a yeasty taste in a fresh pint?

    What are you drinking now?

Imperial stout that's almost two years old. There's only one more after this unfortunately.

How to remove label glue from Goose Island bottles

They are some of the worst. Hot pbw and a long soak. The dishwasher helps some

    Good deal.... or great deal?

I know what I paid for all that stuff buying it new and a piece or two at a time. He's not making any money off of you. Some stuff is unnecessary like glass carboys and what not but it's a solid offer. If he hasn't brewed in awhile I wouldn't put much value in the ingredients, I probably...

Nope, no beer sales from breweries at all.

    Homebrewing on on the cheap?

I bought extract kits my first year and went back in my notes and found the two I rated the highest. Converted it into all grain and bought those ingredients in bulk. This served a dual purpose, it drove the brewing costs down, and I was learning all grain using the same two recipes over and...

Uncrushed Grain in Non Food Safe Container

I find it unlikely that a large chain of restaurants doesn't use a food safe bucket for pickles.

Bayou Classic Steamer BIABucket w/ Stainless Cloth

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, I do essentially the same this, but I just buy the cheap 5 gallon paint strainer bags and line the basket with that. I normally get several brews out of a bag before it needs to be replaced and they're $6 for three bags.

How long is too long to leave in the fermenter?

My first child was born a few months early and it wrecked my packaging schedule. I had a IPA than spent close to 3 1/2 months in the primary. Most of the hop aroma and flavor was gone, otherwise it was fine.
