King Kooker 4" or Bayou 10" Banjo?

    Gadjobrinus I'm sending a PM

King Kooker 4" or Bayou 10" Banjo?

Max BTU output is based on psi and orifice size. The 4" burners put out roughly 60k/hr at 10psi and the 10" banjos put out roughly 180k/hr at 30psi. If my math is right, 30psi will put the BG10's in the 100k-120k BTU/hr range. Which isn't a huge drop off from the 10" banjos. I have a handy...

King Kooker 4" or Bayou 10" Banjo?

Also if you decide to go with the 4" burners Bayou has cast aluminum ones available now. Same heat output, and you wont have to deal with rust issues if the burner gets wet.

King Kooker 4" or Bayou 10" Banjo?

Anything above the standard pressure to household appliances is considered high pressure in the propane world. It's measured in water columns but works out to roughly 1/2 psi. I don't have any experience with king cooker products but I am familiar with Bayou Classic stuff. The burner you are...

    Drilling through a cooler.

I will give it a shot then. Worst case scenario, I'm out $20 on an old cooler.

    Drilling through a cooler.

I need to make a new mash tun and I have an old 50qt igloo with no drain valve. Has anyone ever tried drilling one of these out?

    Stuck Mash?

Here's another bump for the bags. They can be a lifesaver. They are worth their weight just for the amount of time they save during clean up.

    Chest freezer temperature variance

Are you measuring ambient temps, or are you putting the temp probe in a liquid? What offset do you have your controller set at? Even if the offset is set at 1 degree, depending on the settings on your controller you may have a minimum run/rest time for your compressor. It will swing the...

If a recipe says sucrose or dextrose in the grail bill what does that mean?

I would add it to the boil. I don't see any benefit to adding it to the mash. Regardless of your sparge techniques efficiency, you will lose some in the mash. Like extract, I would add it towards the end of the boil, or at flameout.

One gallon beer kit - normal fermenter?

I have one of the brew demon fermenters someone gave me as a gift. It has been working well for 1 gallon brews. I bought one gallon glass jars from AiH that are almost a true gallon to use for secondary and conditioning. There seems to be a lack of optimally sized fermenters for one gallon...

    Mississippi Central Mississippi

If you can meet me close to Jackson I can do the freezer, two ball locks, and the controller for $125. My trucks a gas guzzler, if I need to meet you closer I can, but it will cost more. I have draft lines I can throw in, but honestly I wouldn't recommend using them.

    Cloudy beer seems cool?

No reason NEIPAs should be hazy, we don't tolerate it in any other IPA. I've see a few so bad you could feel hop remnants while drinking.

    Cloudy beer seems cool?

Hazy is lazy depending on the style. It is simply the brewery dropping a step in the process to maximize profits. I'm not really happy seeing this lack of care going mainstream.

This is the only thing that matters. http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/news/2015/tried-and-true-or-adventurous-most-consumers-stick-to-their-favorite-alcohol-brands.html True, craft drinkers are more likely to experiment, I only say no to sours and funky brews. I've tried dozens and...

I get the distribution problems. A big three type company owns most of the distribution and you cant carry Budweiser etc. unless their products occupy x percent of the shelf space.

Obviously they know pale lagers. What percentage of home brewers, or even small craft brewers, actually make good ones. It's one of the hardest styles to nail. Any flaw you make will stand out.

They are outright listed as the larges craft brewery in 2015 by the Brewers Association. If they aren't large enough to compete in buyouts, who is? Is it a doomed market waiting for either a collapse or conglomerate ownership? The bubble is bursting with craft breweries, right now more are...

Two questions. Are they considered "craft"? Why aren't they buying the successful "craft" breweries? Craft is in quotation marks because, if your big enough to catch the eye of a multi-national conglomerate, your motto of brewing great beer despite profits is long gone. AbInbev isn't...
