so I accidentally froze my (diluted) StarSan jug

I mix up my StarSan solution in 1 gallon plastic jugs of distilled water, and then use those to fill up a spray bottle. I also keep extra 1 gallon plastic jugs laying around, to fill with tap water and freeze them, for my swamp cooler/fermenter. Since I was brewing today, I tossed a couple of...

    The bad batch

Don't dump all the bottles just yet! Chill 'em down, close to freezing, then, one at a time, uncap, add a half teaspoon of table sugar, and re-cap.

What I did for beer today

Made 3 gallons of delicious 1.103 chocolate soup wort, chilled it, and poured it on top of the full yeast cake from a pale ale that I bottled while the wort was chilling. The kitchen smells like freshly baked brownies!

    What are you drinking now?

You can't just post a pic of a brand that I love with a beer I've never seen, and not give us some tasting notes!

What I did for beer today

Do you give brewery tours to the public? That looks amazing!

do all roads lead to hazies.

My road (to favorite hot-weather-beer) seems to be converging on: the subdued bittering but hoppy flavor intensity typical of a NEIPA/Hazy beer the tropical hop-flavors, drier finish, lack-of-haze, and minimalist grist of a NewWCIPA that remains reasonably sessionable enough that I can have 2...

Help with mash schedule for high starch beer

This is a pretty wild post! Can't tell if you want to make GLUE, or you just want to use "free" ingredients (like leftover cooked rice)... But if you want to make a "light, kinda sweet beer, that is easy to drink and refeshing", I'd aim for something like: og: 1040, fg: 1005, abv 4.6%, ibu: 15...

    What are you drinking now?

HB imperial stout, has gotten much smoother after 18 months in bottles in a cool basement. Tasting (unintentionally) very much like Expedition Stout (Bell's brewery)!

    What are you drinking now?

6% abv HB Peanut Butter Stout... Turned out amazeballs!

Turbo Yeast (help) for White Claw Seltzer Knock-off

For what it's worth, I made a 1.046 OG sugar/RO batch, and got it to ferment down to 1.000 (I still see some bubbles drifting up in the hydrometer/cheapskate's tilt) in ten days (EC-1118). For me, the key was: 1 gram Fermaid-K per gallon of water 1 gram Calcium Chloride per gallon of water 1...

    Introducing flavors to roasted coffee

My sister buys some hazelnut roasted coffee beans that the rest of my family loves (and I detest!) so that was the inspiration for my post  (I love all kinds of crazy flavors in my stouts, but coffee? In the morning, when I'm just trying to wake up? No thanks!)

    Fixing an overly sweet kolsch?

Make a hop tea, to add some concentrated bitterness. Would fix the "too sweet" part, but can't replace the "kolsch fruit kick you usually get". BrewersFriend IBU calculator makes it pretty simple (I've done it myself).

    Introducing flavors to roasted coffee

Not everyone wants to share a full pot of hazelnut coffee!!! Get her one of these, and then anyone who wants it can add it to taste, and anyone who hates it, doesn't have to brew a separate pot! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Torani-Classic-Hazelnut-Syrup-12-7-fl-oz/16564947

    Refractometer and hydrometer not agreeing

Does anyone sell reasonably priced hydrometers that cover a SHORT range? I'd love three different hydrometers, that didn't need to be so tall, but that covered: 0.995 to 1.035 1.045 to 1.085 1.090 to 1.130 and had decent space between the tick marks. Northern Brewer used to sell one that went...

    mashing flaked oats/wheat separately?

After making this crazy recipe (turned out pretty good, actually), I can verify that the paint straining bag will work fine.
