How long will crushed grains last?

Thanks everybody! What about yeast packaged last April. It's been in the fridge and I plan to make a starter. Does the yeast go bad or does the amount if yeast cells just lower. If the number of cells is lower than usual the starter should make up for that.

    Home Depot DIY Water Filter

I made one of these today. Be careful when screwing in the brass adapter. If its not straight it will strip the threads very easily. Luckily I caught it in time and only stripped about one or two threads. Besides that this is an excellent DIY and will save me about $6-$7 a batch that I was...

How long will crushed grains last?

Say I bought an all-grain recipe kit online this past august. I ordered the kit with crushed grains due to the fact that I don't have a mill. The crushed grains came an an airtight bag although it was not vacuum sealed and had some air in it. I didn't get around to brewing it because of a money...

    Glass "water" carboy

The airlock relieves the pressure of the co2 formed inside of the carboy during fermentation so there's no excessive pressure.

    dishwasher Sanitizer

I do! I haven't had any issues doing it yet either. The only problem that I've run into so far is that the bottles take forever to cool down. Now I just run the dishwasher at night before I go to bed and bottle in the morning.

    sanitizing bottles

I use the dishwasher to sanitize too. I work the night shift so when I get home I load and start the dishwasher. By the time I wake up the bottles have been sanitized and have had enough time to cool. I leave the bottles in the dishwasher, open the door and put the bottling bucket right above...

Upgrading to full boil and AG, possible in kitchen

Lots of poeple do full boil bathes on their stove but most of them do smaller batches due to the lenght of time it would take to boil a full 5 gallons or that they have height limitations for kettles. The size of your kettle will depend on the size batch you do. I have a 30qt (7.5 gal) kettle I...

Yes the STC will work for this and is probably the cheapest option, provided you are slightly handy and can follow a simple diagram.

    Stir plate advice

The convex bottom is not gonna work. It needs to be as flat as possible. Its okay of your fan spins slow and the hard drive magnets are very popular
