The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

Ok, I just wondered. I tweaked it a bit, everything is the same except: .5 oz of NB for bittering Late additions to 1oz each Dry hop is going to be 1.5oz. Yeast is going to be US-05 instead of -04 (found out the local place has a fresh shipment of it in stock) Since I'm already...

The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

Duly noted, but question on the Carapils, I was under the impression that it didn't add hardly anything in terms of flavor, it was more or less only for head retention and body. When did it become bad to use it with other crystal?

The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I may tweak it a bit, but I thought it looked pretty tasty :P Like I said, going to run it by the other guys and see what they think.

    Hop porn

Now we know where the Citra all went to. Just kidding, nice haul.

The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

I think the yeast is what is available without needing to make a 60 mile trek to the LHBS to get a different strain. You don't think the hops would be able to stand up to any sweetness?

The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

Thanks for the info. Being only my 2nd beer ever (and 2nd AG batch), I can't say I know everything. I'm still learning :P FWIW, all the ingredients used are on hand, and the wheat was just to help retention and body along with the Carapils.

    Looking for unibroue clones

From what Unibroue touted about Raftman, it was brewed with "Whisky Malt". What that exactly is, you be the judge. I'd say it's either lightly smoked, or even possibly peated malt. Whatever he ends up doing, the yeast is going to be one of the most important things to nail. Their yeast is...

The Color Of This Beer Is Pale Ale

So a couple friends and I got together and brewed a beer that was supposed to be a Pale Ale, but turned out to be more IPA like. Since that time, I've been wanting to revisit a Pale Ale, as I love the style. Started playing around with Beersmith, and this is what I came up with, and granted...

    Looking for unibroue clones

Raftman is only available in the taster 4 Packs in the US, so it's no surprise that you don't see it much in the US. Noire is available once in a while in 750's, but it's usually part of said taster packs in 12oz form. That said, I've NEVER seen a good clone of Unibroue's beers, and any you do...

    Motueka Hops. Anyone used them?

Older thread, I know, but SN Southern Hemisphere Harvest uses Pacific Hallertau for bittering and NZ Southern Cross and Motueka for finishing. That beer is damn good, FWIW.

    Zanesville, OH noob :)

Howdy all. My name is Kef, still learning a good bit, got an all grain batch under my belt so far, many more to come. Cheers!

What do you think of my first recipe? Making an IPA for my 2nd AG batch.

I'm a noob, but take this how you will: A touch too much caramel malt, do away with the 2 minute addition, change the bittering hop to something else and use the Simcoe in place of the Centennial. Amarillo/Simcoe = <3
