    oxygenation formula

dstar26t, thanks, that is exactly what i have been trying to find. one of these days i will have to see if i can get my hands on a DO meter and try this for myself

    oxygenation formula

true, if i use a value of 20 °C ~ room temperature in my house, then I get 24.040 for the volume of a mole. Using my original example of 12ppm I would need 0.18 liters of oxygen assuming 100% oxygen dissolved. I guess my question should be, is it useful to try and calculate a ball park...

    oxygenation formula

ajf, good catch, it should read (12 x 20). 5 gallons is 18.927 liters. there are a few assumptions made with this formula but at room temperature it should be close enough for our needs. I use a welding oxygen tank with regulator and flow meter. I just figured it would be a quick way to get...

    oxygenation formula

Where O is your desired oxygen in mg/l(ppm), and B is you batch size in liters. this formula assumes 32g of oxygen per mole, that you get 100% transfer and the ideal gas law that 22.4l per mole at one atmosphere is close enough for brewing. (((OxB)/1000)/32)22.4=liters of oxygen. example...

Running Stainless tubing through a bulkhead fitting of sorts

Just curious why you want to avoid welding. You could have someone weld two stainless pipe nipples through, use stainless compression to npt fittings on the inside, quick disconnects on the outside, and be able to disassemble with ease. Thats how I did my boil kettle and dip tube. I used this...

Oetiker clamps are generally single use clamps. they are designed to be cut off.

Question about faucets. Perlick's vs. the others

+1 for forward sealing Perlicks Johnodon, the advantage of ss shanks in my opinion is that they will never have chrome plating flake off. It may cost a little more at the get go but you will never need to upgrade in the future. I just ordered a 525 and stainless shank for my dads basement...

3/16 inch beer line, 1/4 inch tailpiece, #145 Oetiker = leak

Just curious where you where exposed to Oetiker clamps? The only thing I know they are used for is aircraft.

3/16 inch beer line, 1/4 inch tailpiece, #145 Oetiker = leak

Personally I use standard hardware store hose clamps and have never had a leak, even when pressure testing the kegs at ~60psi. And I reuse the hose clamps, just toss them in some PBW when I replace beer lines. Connor

Will this do what I need for a heating element control?

No, to get a heating element to produce its rated wattage you need it to be at its proper voltage. If a 240v element is only driven with 120-140v you will get less than half the rated wattage. your best bet would be a PID/SSR combo. A PID/SSR/heatsink should cost around $80. PIDs are easy to...

dual stage temp controller for 2 freezers?

I think it has more to do with the amp load from your freezers compressor. My little 5.5 cubic foot freezer only draws around 2 amps at full load. Camiller is correct; each output from the controller can be set normally open or normally closed. I believe all you would need to have are two...

    Cost to fill co2 tank.

I have always been a fan of the cylinder swap for my welding rigs (C25 and Argon). Once you join the "club" of tank ownership you can swap out and let the shop worry about hydrostatic testing. Most of the cost getting any cylinder refilled is the labor involved. Also no wait while they fill...

    O Rings

When I rebuilt my keg I just got the tip of an exacto blade under the o-ring and cut it off. A little bit of keg lube and the new rings go on without a fight.

    Storing Hops with CO2

I have leftover whole hops from my first batch. I would like to store the hops by putting them in mason jars and purging with CO2. Anyone else do this or recommend it? I would store the jars in the freezer. Thanks for the advice.

    CO2 Prices

Here in Seattle at Central Welding a 20lb swap was $22.98. Quick question, I am looking to get a 5lb tank for N2/CO2 mix but Central Welding quoted me over a $100 for the tank. Any better sources? BTW, my first batch, an Amber, OG 1.051, is in the fermenter!

    From Seattle

Hi everyone, New here, and new to brewing. Jumped in feet first with a welded keg (I have access to a machine shop at my dads place), building a kezzer, picked up a 20lb CO2 tank from work and built my own burner stand with a hurricane burner. I will be doing my first batch this week on...
