Anyone have an ActiveAir Speed Controller with an ActiveAir fan?

If it is a brushless motor controller there will be 3 wires going to the motor, if its a brushed motor there will only be two wires. Thats the easy way to tell if its the right controller. Now weather or not its working properly is a different story...

    I can't believe there isn't a Domestic Tranquility/SWMBO sticky thread

I am one of the lucky ones whose SWMBO encourages me to brew more and expand the brewery. She evens buys the ingredients for her favorite brews!

    Less trub with AG?

I think the reason for less trub in AG batches has to do with the vorlauf. When steeping specialty grains this step is skipped leading to more particles ending up in the boil kettle.

    Military TDY Brew Ideas

Any beer should be fine. Look at threads discussing yeast autolysis. It has pretty much been shown that on a homebrew scale autolysis is not a large concern. What is your temperature stability like in the basement? This would have a larger impact on beer styles that could be given an...

    Welding a Thermowell

On mine we just took the threads off with our lathe. I bet a local machine shop would be willing to do the same in exchange for some homebrew.

I'm an idiot...who is with me?

I started a batch once without checking the amount of propane in my tank. Needless to say it wasn't enough... That night I ordered a PID and SSR.

    4 standard faucets and shanks

Might I suggest looking into stainless steel Perlick forward sealing faucets. Buy once and never need to replace them.

    running draft lines

I would. Every little bit of temperature management helps you get that perfect pour.

I'm brewing beer for 100's of people -- how much to brew?

I think it also depends on how far people have to travel to get home after the reception. At my wedding we didn't go through as much beer or wine as anticipated. Our guests where close enough to home that they were not staying the night in the town of the venue, but far enough that they didn't...

    Sanitizing Bottles in Oven

I don't have it with me but the book Yeast has a paragraph or two talking about the difference in temperature and time needed when using dry heat vs wet heat. The take away for me was to use star-san, the oven is just not designed for sterilizing.

How much does an all grain brewing system cost?

I have well over a thousand dollars into my system. I actually stopped counting at some point and just keep building. It is all stainless, dual pumps, electric, tri clover fittings at all locations... All Grain can be as inexpensive as finding used and free components or as pricey as you want...

    18th Century Brewing Instructions

Yes, curious about the recipe as well. It would be cool to recreate it. I don't mind boiling raisins for 5 hours.

    BCS Temp Probes

The temp probes are easy to hook up. There will be (in my case) a black wire, white wire, foil shield and bare wire once you strip off the insulation. The foil shield and bare wire are not needed and can be trimmed back, or see the note in the instructions. The BCS measures the resistance...
