New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My question to this would be; does it affect the taste of the beer? Vitamin C isn't necessarily flavorless. I doubt anyone would notice 1 tsp in 5 gallons but I would like to see the difference between a beer with and without.

American Wheat Beer Hoppy Session Wheat Beer

Just started brewing a batch of this. Going with simcoe/amarillo for my hops. Keeping the centennial, will report back in 2 weeks once it's ready. Thanks again for the recipe @Braufessor

    Blonde Ale Murican Blonde Ale

You could add more water to lower your OG and increase your batch size. There are several calculators online here is one: https://www.brewersfriend.com/dilution-and-boiloff-gravity-calculator/

Interesting, I've had a few scotch whiskeys with that band-aid taste and I am not a fan of it at all. I don't think it is 1318, I've only gotten pineapple like esters from that.

I didn't even think of that, but it makes sense. Packaging NEIPAs as a homebrewer is a hassle and almost never worth it. If this method could allow me to ship and share my NEIPAs and have them retain the quality they are at I'm all for trying it.

Anyone else find it super interesting about Mike adding that yeast in during the keg hop? He says it only eats the simple sugars, creates a second biotransformation, and scrubs the oxygen. Cool stuff! I'm a brulosophy patreon and recently got to do a live Q&A with Mike.

    Blonde Ale Murican Blonde Ale

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking for a nice low ABV beer to have on tap alongside the heavy hitting IPAs I'm making. Looks like a solid beer, now I have something to brew this weekend!

Just wondering, does anyone harvest their yeast from the NEIPAs and repitch in another batch? If so - do you find harvesting is; the same, better, or worse in the end product? Do the fruity esters still come through? How many generations do you go?

Okay I will keep my same temp schedule since it seems to work well. I ferment under pressure as well with a spunding valve. What was the FG of that 1.075 beer? I don't want it to be overly sweet since I will be using lactose in my recipe post boil. Thinking I can cut down my grains a bit and use...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks for the info! The beer I'm thinking about brewing is starting a little high -1.077 so I might adjust to get it lower. As far as tree house yeast, I thought they were using blends of dry yeast in most of their beers. Check out this blog on a Julius clone...

Thanks for the reply! What temp do you ferment this yeast at? I've been doing 64 (ambient) for 3 days then ramping to 69 over a week for 1318. Looks like the recommended fermentation temps are a bit lower for this yeast.

I just realized I messed up when I ordered my yeast from MoreBeer. I got London Ale 1318 (favorite), and then WLP002 instead of WLP001 (doh) like I wanted. Has anyone brewed a NEIPA with WLP002? If not I will report back in 2 weeks and let you guys know how it turned out.

If you were to do this same hop combo again would you do something like .4:1 Galaxy/El Dorado? I find Galaxy really overpowers other hops. Looks good!

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Copied from Zymatic group on Facebook. From Annie: The StepFilter is a new design - the tool is brand new. The lid seats differently and it doesn't fracture like the old one. There is a newly designed heat exchanger - more robust and doesn't leak or break. New valve and flow - the swing arm is...

    PicoBrew Zymatic

My buddy at work just bought one...He is very excited and very depressed he has to wait 6 months until the Z ships. I'm right on the cusp of ordering the 5 gallon one. $1999 + $200 (Shipping) - $150 discount - $600 Zymatic trade in (you get to keep the keg) = $1449. Decisions, decisions.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

    Pico posted their FAQ on the Z here - https://picobrew.com/About/FAQ_Z.cshtml Tells a lot of info such as power, cost, trade in details, etc. "Z1 pre-order price: $1499. Z2 pre-order price: $1999. Z3 pre-order price: $2999. Z4 pre-order price: $3999."

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hands down the best beer I've made, super dank and fruity at the same time. Very much what I like in an IPA and NEIPA. When I do this again I will cut down the Galaxy because they just punch me right in the face, had 17.8% AA for my galaxy hops. Unfortunately, I had to siphon this beer :'(...

    PicoBrew Zymatic

In a Pico Facebook group I'm in they confirmed there will be a trade-in for current zymatic owners. Saw some people were told they only offer $600 for the trade in but I haven't received an email on trade in yet. And yes I believe if we all use each other's links we will get $250 off.
