My buddy wants to get started!

Plenty of people get swept away by the "idea" of homebrewing, spend a fair amount of cash on starter kits and then stuff them in a closet after a couple of batches. And some of those folks put their stuff on craigslist for vultures like you and me to scoop up. Also, I think it was Austin (can't...

    Mashing/BIAB and kettle size

Been brewing extracts and mini-mashes for a few years and recently picked up and modded a garage-sale mini-fridge to use as a fermentation chamber with 3-gallon carboys. Mail order yeast in the summer in the South

So I ordered my third beer kit from Northern Brewer the other day and decided to go with the Wyeast smackpack for the first time. My first two batches have turned out just fine using Safale US-04 and US-05, but I wanted to try something new. I also sprung for the ice pack upon ordering. And...

    the greatness of no secondary

That's where I'm at. I have a dry irish stout celebrating a birthday today (it's two weeks old!) and instead of racking it to secondary, I'm just going to leave it be for another two weeks in primary before bottling. I'll probably pry open the bucket in the middle of next week to take a...
