I'm thinking it could be something to do with the CO2 alright, I might leave it off the gas for a few days to see if the aromas come back. I'd overcarbed a brew before when left at 30psi and I managed to fix it simply by leaving it off the gas for a few days.

I used W5 Oxy Powder from Lidl which was recommended on various home brew forums. I think I rinsed like 2-3 times before using StarSan...but yes it could be from the W5 Oxy.

Yes ok, I'll leave it be as fermentation is looking good and I don't want to risk infection at this stage. But I'll remember in future that I can add more water pre fermentation (to adjust volume and OG). Now I need to figure out my boil off and hop absorption rates! Cheers guys!

I recently purchased a 23 litre all grain IPA mash kit that included Cascade whole leaf hops. After the boil and pitching yeast I only managed to get 20 litres in the fermentor and my OG was 1.060 and the recipe estimated 1.045. Post boil volume was approx 28 litres. So could I add water...

Many thanks for all the help on my stuck mash guys. After reinforcing the bridge silicone tube to my manifold I have now been able to complete two brews without any issues when sparging/recirculating....sorted!

OK so I left my next brew for a week at 12psi and I just tried pouring a tester and it gushed out to fill the glass full of head. Once it settled I gave it a go and it didn't taste the best, that weird watery taste, perhaps its because it's the first run from the keg and it came out 100% head...

Thanks ArthurDigbySellers, I remember reading this too and I didn't take it into consideration at the time. I am now going to take that point on board and move the manifold away from the sides and end. Cheers for that!

Many thanks Revvy, I've now reinforced that connector (see video above) so hopefully that solves the issue as it can no longer be compressed by the mash or by compression from the manifold itself.
