New BrewBuilt X1 Uni Pro Fermenter

It says it uses a peltier device to provide cooling. Seems pretty neat.

    Help troubleshoot my gas system

Put your hand tight over the tank valve with it open and let it sit for a second. Push it on there real tight to get a good seal. Does it make a sound when you let go? If it does it sounds like the tank valve is leaking.

Equally Obnoxious Hockey Trash Talk Thread, eh?

We'll the least they can do is prove that once a season 🤷‍♂️

Equally Obnoxious Hockey Trash Talk Thread, eh?

As a wings fan, I wager literally any other team put on some wings jerseys and started playing tonight.

    Removing barb fitting from regulator?

Make sure your wrenches fit nice on the fittings (don't use an adjustable) and put some ass into it. Probably some pipe dope or sealant on it that is making it difficult to remove.

Any DC-area homebrewers? Looking for tips on where to get CO2 refills.

Everyone I've talked to says there usually isn't any difference. What to look for is benzene, which is sometimes found in CO2. Food grade won't have it, but regular also shouldn't have it but sometimes does. I've never noticed it and I never get food grade... Just be aware of it. Either source...

Insulating keezer collar - best options

I don't have a picture, but I imagine he's using hollow PVC fence rails. They basically look like 2x4/2x6 wood, but thin, hollow PVC. Seems like a solid idea, I might have to try that if I ever redo mine.

    Cleaning corny kegs

An oxygen based cleaner (I use PBW) is generally better than dish soap. It's easier to clean it all out, dish soap has a tendency to stick around after rinsing. I deep clean my kegs in the shower. After dumping the contents and maybe rinsing off anything big that's hanging out inside I'll fill...

What are the chances that I ruined my beer?

And when you do hit one out of the park, you probably forgot to take notes... BTDT

What are the chances that I ruined my beer?

It's also helpful to keep in mind that infections aren't dangerous to your health. They often make the beer taste bad, but that's it. So go ahead and let it ride and give it a taste and see how it is. A lot of good beers have been made due to some wild beasties sneaking in and souring things. If...

Can i use a propane turkey fryer stove for brewing? Also how much propane do you use for one 5 gallon batch?

Depends on the BTUs. You can get some real jet engine burners, most turkey fryers are on the smaller side, though. Still many times better than anything a gas range can offer, though.

Can i use a propane turkey fryer stove for brewing? Also how much propane do you use for one 5 gallon batch?

Yes a propane burner, such as one for frying a turkey is far superior to a gas stove in terms of getting things up to temp quickly. 3 - 4 pounds per brew session is a good estimate, but variables such as outside temp, wind and boil length all change that. I would have a spare tank ready.

    Mold in Fermenter

It is exceedingly unlikely for any pathogens (organisms that can make you sick) to grow and have any sort of significant presence in "finished" beer. The alcohol prevents them from reproducing and existing at any appreciable level (if at all). If you see something like this you can be certain...

How can you plumb a faucet to beer thread (sanke D coupler) without using a shank?

Check this out - Keg Faucet Adapter Assembly - Ball Lock I know I've seen one that is attached to a Sankey keg coupler as well, but I can't find it on their site. If you notice, the faucet is connected to an adapter that connects to 1/4" MFL devices. So you could buy that assembly, toss the...

Buying apple 25L of apple juice without being frowned upon

Get it Costco or something? I don't think anyone actually cares.

    Can I re-seal secondary?

You're introducing a lot of opportunities for oxidation and potentially infections to take hold by doing that, but yes it's theoretically possible if you're clean and sanitary about it.

    Expectations from grain bill

I expect it will turn into beer. Take good notes when you're brewing and then again when you're tasting. Make adjustments as needed to get the beer just how you like it. If you need help with those adjustments it's easier for folks to give you input at that point. This beer could turn out just...

Split gas lines & empty kegs

The ball lock disconnect will not leak gas when the keg is disconnected, assuming it works correctly. Just pop it off the keg and let it be until you have something else to connect it to.
