Why is wine fermentation schedule different from beer?

Why do all the instructions that I have read say to transfer to secondary before fermentation has completed? With beer (assuming I secondary at all) I always wait until fermentation has completely finished before racking to secondary. I also see that after you degas it says to bottle, why can't...

How do kit wines stack up against store bought wines?

Thank you to the guys that responded in my other thread. Now I have a different question that is more about the quality of wine. How do the kits stack up against commercial wine? Someone on BA suggested that you won't be making high quality wine with kits because they are not fresh enough. What...

Do I need any more equipment/Which kits should I look at?

Do I need any more equipment/Which kits should I look at?

Do I need any more equipment/Which kits should I look at?

I home brew beer. I just started looking into making wine for my mom and fiancee. I have 2- 6.5 gallon buckets and a better bottle. Is a larger bucket actually necessary? My mom likes red wine and I think she also likes German eiswein. This might sound selfish, but I do not want to buy one of...

    Will it boil? 2 Heatsticks

Thanks... I am currently using an SP-10 turkey fryer, and I like it, but I found out what a heatstick is and started thinking I would like to brew indoors.

    Will it boil? 2 Heatsticks

If I build two 1500w heatsticks, will that be sufficient to boil 7 gallons for 5 gallon batches? What is the maximum amount that could boil with two 1500w heatsticks? I use a 10 gallon thick aluminum kettle.
