    1 gallon pros/cons?

I like the little big mouth bubbler for small batches. It is 1.4 gallons so you have extra head space or you can add a bit more beer.

    Grainfather!!

Used the micro pipe works for a 3 gallon smash about 2 weeks back and it worked out great. 6lbs of 2-row and simcoe. It is tasting pretty good now, but can't wait for it to carb up. The OG was ~1.044.

    Bottle Half and Keg Half

Yep, check out one of the online priming calculators. I have been using this one and have not had a problem. https://www.northernbrewer.com/priming-sugar-calculator/

    "SMaSH" brewing with extracts?

For 6 gallons that is not going to be enough unless you go get 1lb of DME. You may want to go to 5 gallons for 1.042. Another tip I don't see here too much is fill a small cooler with HOT tap water and let your LME warm up in there while you get things ready and get your pot up to a boil. You...

    "SMaSH" brewing with extracts?

I would google "15 minute pale ale" lots of experiments out there (basicbrewing videos too) American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale (long thread here) https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=210253 I just made a 15 min smash with Simcoe, real nice. Which LME did you get?

    False SG?

Bubbles on the hydrometer? Give the hydro a spin to dislodge any bubbles. Hydo touching the side? Make sure it is level. Also, just set your sample aside while you do other things to let the foam settle.

First try - Pacific Coast IPA

Have you looked at the online recipe calculators like on Brewer's Friend? You can change around the fermentables and see the changes in OG, FG and others. I am new so don't know how accurate it is but it is fun to play around with different ingredients. (looks like they use 1 dme = ~1.20 lme)

    Throwing in the towel

Northern Brewer is where I started. They have some great kits. I would recommend clicking on the learn tab and checking out the video section. Also, their youTube channel. After watching a ton of vids and reading alot, my first batch turned out great. I am a few extract batches in and am...

    Grainfather!!

Thanks for the feed back. I don't have a mill yet. The kit is coming from an online site. I will check to see if they can say what size the crush is set to. This is the 110v and I do have the graincoat. I am at 5400 ft so boil is ~202f. I do have hop bags and wondering if people...
